  1. If you like MMW I would highly recommend an East Coast band called Schleigho. The live CD "Live at Hoe Down 2000" is very good, with guest appearances by Derek Trucks and Kofi Burbidge. They rip through some originals and some Wayne Shorter taboot.
  2. Sorry Basil, I couldn't resist. 12/29/78
  3. The best thing Love ever did was to be in the photo on the back cover of the Dead's "Aoxomoxoa" LP. Mr. Phillip Lesh is also her godfather evidently. Crazy, huh?
  4. I have "Two Virgins" on 8-track, no kidding! One listen is enough - it ain't no Metal Machine Music that's for sure.
  5. "From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs". Or something like that.
  6. I wholeheartedly concur with the distinguished gentleman from the great state of Arkansas. We will make this our cause (in the spirit of bipartisanship).
  7. Damn near anything off of John Prine's debut LP - especially "Hello In There".
  8. In life, one and one don't make two - one and one make one.. -Peter Townshend Love ya, babe. Party countdown begins in 5 hours!
  9. In one of those books I have (I think it was the David Henderson book) Jimi was once invited to dinner at Miles' place. Miles was running late, but he left some charts for Jimi to look over. Jimi had to sheepishly admit that he couldn't read music. Wow.
  10. When the Experience was doing their first gigs in and around London, many of the shows were with The Pink Floyd on the bill as well. I haven't heard a great deal of pre-Experience Jimi but from what I have heard it's pretty close to what Buddy Guy was doing at the time. My point being I wonder how much of an influence Syd and the Floyd had (on Jimi) regarding the concept of sound as SOUND. As limited as PF was in terms of technical proficiency their work with feedback and noise elements was pretty groundbreaking - McCartney has said as much. And the crowds he was playing to (UFO Club, etc) we
  11. I thought it was really a shame when Rod and Jeff didn't reunite for a whole album/tour ("Flash", 1985). Their take on "People Get Ready" was pretty damn good imo. As much as I liked The Faces the Beck Group with Rod was THE shit.
  12. On the surface I like this idea. Any thoughts, Aman?
  13. You're a good man. The Hammer has become my go-to beer in the last year or so.
  14. Yes. I do not see Biden heading up a shadow government and giving the finger to the Constitution.
  15. Vibes, MrRain. Hope it works out for ya.
  16. There should be a whole book devoted to Mike Jeffrey. Maybe there already is, I don't know. But talk about a shady character...
  17. As much as Mitch incorporated jazz drumming into rock music you could just as easily say someone like Tony Williams incorporated rock drumming into jazz. Fusion, baby.
  18. Joe The Vice President-Elect gets hands on: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081114/ap_on_go_pr_wh/biden This is the guy I want making these calls. The difference between Biden and Cheney cannot be measured.
  19. That's what I thought too. Butting heads over supporting/not supporting the invasion of Iraq, HRC calling Barack "naive" over speaking with Iran, etc. But...I don't think there's any doubt that HRC is qualified for the job. She'd probably even excel at the position. I would lean towards Richardson myself - Clinton could be in line for leader in the Senate. That's where I would like to see her (outside shot, I know). She could lean on people in a way I just don't see Reid doing.
  20. Both. The images themselves are disturbing enough, but what do they represent to the Muslim community? I can only imagine them to be a verification of the U.S. as Satan incarnate.
