  1. What was the name of that movie where she played a dominatrix? That shit scarred me for life.
  2. That was a very exceptional interpretation. Kudos! The idea of death had never been a consideration for me but now I must rethink. Very well done.
  3. Neil's audience is a real mixed bag, age-wise. My 20 year old son worships the ground he walks on, as does my 70 year old father. So I would guess the 'average' would be about my age (45). Have a good time! I've seen NY about a dozen times and he nearly always has killed me.
  4. Some of the first things I learned to play were from John Prine's first few LPs. Very simple structures for the most part, and devastating lyrics. If you're interested try some of those - you will definitely get some requests at the next campfire you attend! Good luck!
  5. Before I ever got my first live GD cassettes I bought an actual bootleg LP at a record collector's convention. Very early '80s. The first two sides were the acoustic set from 5/2/70. The second LP was 12/5/71 - just first set material, mostly minty-fresh tunes from the last 6 weeks (Mexicali, Comes a Time, etc..). But there was one tune on there that I later found out was a once-only version "(I Washed My Hands In) Muddy Water". I don't know the background of the song, but it's very gospel in feel and execution. Too bad it didn't show up in those acoustic sets with Marmaduke & Nelson.
  6. 12/1/73 - Boston MA This show is a contender for best between song banter. Go check it out - "this lame trip".
  7. Just imagine Old Black and Nels' guitar in a dueling scream-fest on Rockin' - oh yeah.
  8. Oh man. You just made my head explode.
  9. Since no one has mentioned it I'll assume there was no Wilco guest spots in Neil's set. I would think Nels would be kick ass on some of NY's stuff.
  10. Damn, dude - that's a lot of badgers. Are you guys doing it or something?
  11. I wanted to send you best wishes celebrating your natal anniversary, even though you've already quit the board and are only vaguely aware of who I am. So - Happy Birthday!
  12. All my vasoconstrictors they come slowly undone Can't this wait till I'm old? Can't I live while I'm young? Have a great day, Z!
  13. I thought SCI was fantastic until around '02. They seemed to get into the "trance" thing a little too heavily after that - plus, I hated the classic rock covers (Walk This Way, Born to Be Wild, etc) that they were doing.
  14. Amen to that! Maybe that's not a fair example. T.O. maybe?
  15. Well now, lets see....guy catches Super Bowl-winning TD pass, signs contract for $7 mil per, then gets fined for unsportsmanlike conduct on the field, misses team meeting, gets fined for that, too injured to play but NOT too injured to go hang out in clubs - where he gets shot. This shit is all too familiar. It never ceases to amaze me how stupid guys can be once they get too much money. >
  16. The String Cheese Incident - McGaw Chapel, Wooster OH 4/13/00 (Acoustic)
  17. Yes, I've seen it first-hand (Deer Creek '95) and it's pretty frightening stuff. I thought the best thing about Barack's speech at Grant Park was the fact there were a quarter million folks there (some of whom were REALLY excited) but there were no violent acts going down. You think if the Cubs won the Series they would have been that restrained? Probably not.
  18. And, wtf is wrong with THAT, I ask you?
  19. Nice find! These guys were a band the critics loved to hate but I loved 'em as a kid. The Live double LP (from Atlanta Pop '70) was a favorite. Inside Looking Out is great.
  20. This is a very cool idea, man. I'll definitely be checking the blog from time to time. Welcome to the board!
  21. Yeah, you really wouldn't want to overdo the calories with regular Sammies.
  22. I'm not too crazy about Xmas music, but that metal Xmas CD sounds like something I'd dig.
  23. LOL at "crack aficianado". Or is it "aphishianado"?
