  1. I don't agree with Specter on everything but I will say this: if the Senate had more Republicans like Arlen this country would be much better off.
  2. Ok. I thought about posting this in after the show but I figured the people who really give a shit would probably come here to read it anyway. The Bryce Jordan is a typical college arena of (my guess) 12K. The show was supposedly sold out but there was plenty of room on the floor after you got past the first 20 rows or so. We had the GA on the floor. Most of the time I hung back at the soundboard. The Allmans delivered their usual solid set. Susan Tedeschi came out and did Dylan's "Don't Think Twice", which she started solo and then the band added some subtle, cool accompaniment. Next up c
  3. We went by it, and saw it, but no. We had just enough time to get checked into the hotel and then it was off to the show. Very little swag in the lot, but I did get Michelle a "Deadheads for Obama" shirt. Also, I sat with tapers so the show should be up somewhere soon (if not already).
  4. The Four Winds blew me safely home. A couple of quick thoughts: #1 - there are few places I've seen that are more beautiful than the area surrounding State College PA in the Fall. The colors of the trees were so vibrant it was just astonishing. And #2: OH YEAH TO BE BACK IN THE ROOM WITH THE BOYS AGAIN! Anyone caught sniveling about that set list should be kicked squarely in the nuts.
  5. It appears Indy is going to win one in the new stadium. Finally.
  6. Ball State Cardinals are 7-0. First time EVER as a ranked team. Keep on keepin' on Cards!
  7. Well, today's the day. I'm heading out for OH this evening. Crash at Ray's and then onto PSU tomorrow morning. Wish me luck folks - I might need it.
  8. I've thought about discussing this the last few days, but I'm not sure I want to. I do hear a lot of talk here (in this town) and it's pretty disturbing.
  9. Yes. Thanks wheelco for turning me on to this band. I might not have ever got into the Lab if not for this place.
  10. I love "Groom". And I know we've talked about this before but "Angelina" (outtake from "Shot") is one of my favorite songs from that period. Amazing.
  11. It's strange, I never paid to much attention to the studio version but when it was in heavy rotation (in '99 especially) that song really was mind-blowing. I know the current lineup has done it a bit this year. I wish it would take the place of ITMWLY or Shot for awhile.
  12. The lyrics don't bother me as much as the music itself - particularly the opening. The first time I heard it my first thought was "that sounds like the theme from a damn soap opera or something". The jazzy bits later on almost save it. But not quite.
  13. Being a big fan of live albums, 11/17/70 is essential imo. The 20 minute "Burn Down the Mission" medley is great stuff.
  14. That's almost sig-worthy. Like I said a few hundred pages back, he of all people should know better.
  15. To those of you who have or will have the Rockin' the Cradle (Egypt '78): have you guys watched the DVD yet? I watched it last night, and although the footage is a tad spotty at times, WOW. Maybe it was the eclipse, I don't know, but I have NEVER EVER saw Garcia so animated. Go back and check out "Minglewood" - when Bobby sings "couple shots of whiskey" Gar almost channels Pete Townshend...I mean, he's jumping around and shit. Almost does a windmill! On other tunes he's bobbing his head like a metal dude. At one point him and Phil are front and center right beside each other just ROCKIN' OUT.
  16. It's ok to disagree without being disagreeable. We have more important things to concern ourselves with.
  17. Yes. He was a teenager in the late '70s in Hawaii, for Chrissakes. Frankly, if he didn't experiment with the local plant life I'd be astonished. "I inhaled...frequently. That was the point." If you ask me we've came a long way in the past 16 years in this regard. At least the guy doesn't try to insult us like Bill with his comment "I didn't inhale". Maybe Bill felt he had to say that in order to get elected but that b.s. is no longer necessary. I hope. Really...this was 30 years ago. Who gives a shit?
