Everyone in the house here are music nuts. My wife likes a great deal of my music, with one glaring exception: she HATES King Crimson. I have no idea why. She's not a fan of the avant-garde jazz either, come to think of it.

My oldest and dearest friend has lived there for 20 years. The Lafayette Brew Pub does a pretty good job of getting some fine acts - particularly if you dig "new grass" (Cornmeal, Old Crow Medicine Show, etc.). I saw Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks there last winter and it was a great night. If you're talking about places to play/people to jam with shoot me a PM if you'd like - I'll get Alan in touch with you, or vice-versa.

Those "Pickin' On..." bluegrass tribute cds are good, in general. You haven't lived until you hear "Astronomy Domine" done with acoustic guitar, upright bass, mandolin and violin.

Exactly. When these threads got started back what seems like a decade ago many of us made the comment that HRC was unelectable. The events of the last two months seem to justify that idea. There's a whole lot of numbers being thrown around out there that describe the polarization this scorched earth approach is generating. Nearly a quarter of folks (in some polls, take with a grain of salt) are hinting that if HRC or Barack (depending on whose side you're on) get the nomination they'll either sit on their hands or vote McCain. Sometimes this thought worries me.

I agree wholeheartedly. The first album is quite good - Rolie's voice was perfect for that band ("Of a Lifetime" in particular). Too bad they got the lust for hit records.

I'm beginning to think she's become delusional - the only way for her to win is to possibly sabotage the party. So much for unity. Now that PA is over it will be real interesting to see what happens here. All of the ads that have been airing here have been very civil. So far. I get a weird feeling that it will be another bloodbath.
