Gilmour's guitar solo in "Time" - how is it that I didn't think of this the very first thing? The notes, the sound of the recording...I'm hard pressed to think of any solo that can challenge this as "best solo ever". Ten gazillion listens, and I still crank that sucker up EVERY time I hear it - never gets old.

That really was a high point in his career if you ask me. He kinda got into the "sensitive guy" (singer/songwriter) trip after that, and let's be honest, he ain't no Jackson Browne!

You know I'd really enjoy a Rush thread. Actually thought about doing one myself, but ddn't for the reason you mentioned. I JUST missed out on seeing Zep, Floyd, the original Who, etc, so for my age (46) Rush was one the best, if not THE best, live bands around at that time (late '70s - early '80s). I saw all of those tours from Hemispheres through Signals, and they did not ever disappoint.

For me it's Lou by a wide margin. Most of his solo stuff I like, and imho New York is one of the greatest records ever made. That one is just SCARY good.
