  1. I read that Voice article last night. Damn, that is just about the most depressing read EVER!
  2. May the beautiful, painfully loud sounds of Old Black fill your special day! Also, hope that beautiful kid is growing like a weed.
  3. I'm pretty sure that members of the group that originally had a hit with "Spooky" (Classics IV) were founders of ARS. These guys are kinda what I think of when I think about the 'Seventies FM radio' sound - professional musicians with a lot of chops, but ultimately kind of bland. I don't hate 'em - I just don't LOVE 'em, either.
  4. Damn, you're good. Wtf is "Toyota Park? If that's the World Amphitheatre that place is a king-hell shit hole.
  5. Btw, I'll go on record as saying the song "Meat" is one of my least favorite tunes in the reppa-twah. Just a lazy, throwaway song that always had me heading for a piss break.
  6. That 3/17/91 show David played is a very strong show throughout. It really is a shame that R&C wasn't played more often.
  7. That hat I might have to eat - can I smother it in bacon?
  8. Nice! Thanks for the heads up on that - I need to get that one too.
  9. That second set is just way sick. I'm a huge fan of "In A Silent Way". Carlos really did well on that tune (last days of the Fillmore).
  10. Stanley Clarke on guitar? Man, I saw him & Lenny White in the Return To Forever reunion shows last summer - one of the great concert experiences ever for me.
  11. Yeah. Imagine someone having an obsession like that. Right, Lammy?
  12. Of all their great tunes that stretch out and 'jam' I'd have to say that Elizabeth Reed is my favorite - it's almost like the ABB's "Dark Star". SO many great versions out there. Of course, the Fillmore East is the one that's most well known, but check out the "Wipe The Windows" take - Chuck Leavell takes a real nice solo there...and the Merriweather Post '79 version (with Dan Toler) SMOKES - it's on the box set that came out around '89-'90. But that acoustic version on "An Evening With...#2" might just be my favorite - really unique.
  13. Yes. The lineup I saw in August 1990 (with Johnny Neel, piano) was probably the best show out of the dozen or so times I've saw the ABB. Just an incredible night. Second row - watching Betts wiggle those strings from that close up was a real revelation.
  14. Happy Happy Birthday to one of VC's finest! May your special day be filled with much hop-flavored goodness and the avant-garde stylings of the NC Singers!
  15. Miles Davis - In A Silent Way. Really great late night, quiet music...and good for exploring those internal vistas you may not know existed.
  16. Indeed. The thing Jon called him out for has to resonate with anyone who has watched their 401k sink like a stone. This is people's livelihoods we're talking about here. It isn't some goddamn game.
  17. Bunk, I was just yakking about this in the RTT, then I come across this. Well done. Stewart KILLED it, man. That was so awesome I almost could not believe it.
  18. Great idea for a thread! I never miss the Brothers when they are in my area - one of the truly great live bands, American or otherwise.
