  1. This was front page news around here today (Denver Post) as well as front page of the local setion and about 3-4 editorials. Ridiculous. I actually read part of one on the bus to work as I had managed to avoid most of the coverage/story up 'til now. Although if he was in the balloon when it touched down any decent live coverage would have to have included "The Falcon has landed."
  2. "Bardwell estimates that he has refused to marry about four couples during his career, all in the past 2 1/2 years." Not too bad of a track record. Of course, this is just an estimate.....
  3. Don't forget Shelley Finkel! Bushnell shows were always great. JGB crowd back then was more of a biker/older/melower crowd, too. Philly wasn't a far drive at all, as with SPAC. Even darted into NYC to Beacon for a JGB early show on a Tues. school night (high school) once....
  4. Relative home base here, as well, back then (New Have area). We lucked out living there with soooo many shows hitting the N.E. area and easy driving access....

The build up to it still sends shivers down my spine....
  6. Nirvana. Even though it was a short run for the decade they blew away anybody else I can think of.
  7. Pretty much my sentiments about that series. BOS looked about as flat as they have most of the season.
  8. No doubt. Pretty entertaining series, regardless. Those last two innings was some exciting ball.
  9. This is true (that they say that). Over the summer my housemate and I were sipping beer in the back yard and while he was telling me how crummy things were going in his life of late he was shat on by a bird. He laughed and chalked it up to his situation. His crummy spell turned right around after that, too.
  10. Easy bootsy. Where's the rest of the photo, though...?
  11. I always liked the "moment of weakness" plea. Nobody ever just says: "listen, she/(he) was pretty hot, they were all over me (insert # of times you did it with the other person here), I was horny, and, honestly, I didn't think I'd get caught but I guess I did. Sorry about that."
  12. I'll cop to liking these tunes when they came out. Granted, I was 8 years old, but still....
  13. Don't think it's Flea (though certainly could be). Haven't heard of him being on the album, either. He was (at times) in Gibby's side band, P, though....
  14. Ah, didn't read the article, just saw a clip on the news at 5:30 this morning. Wonder if she caught last night's show....
  15. Great pics. King Coffey looks big. Teresa's back too, eh?
  16. Hate to do a compilation but there's enough here for the core of the show. Then they could do some Wilco stuff for the encores: Dancing QueenKnowing Me, Knowing YouTake A Chance On MeMamma MiaLay All Of Your Love On MeSuper TrouperI Have A DreamWinner Takes It AllMoney, Money, MoneySOSChiquititaFernandoVoulez-VousGimme! 17. This is the first thing I thought of, too. Maybe his arrangement with the girlfriend/now wife was "open" to an extent. I assumed the "affairs" came from the other side (the women he's slept with being married). Again, who knows. I'm glad he threw some humor into it as he's done the same to others caught up in these things.
  18. I've got a sbd of the show and will post when I fix the link.... This Keep On Growing (first) from the Greek is the best of the 4, imo.
  19. Glad to hear the positive review of the show. Catching them in Denver next weekend. It's been quite awhile.
  20. DSO is a fun band to catch. I don't think I've ever paid $40 to see them, but have paid $20 or so. That's money well spent, imo, to see a pretty good band who plays my favorite music. That new Rhino release looks like chopped up (shows) horseshit and a gimmicky run for the money. Winterland stuff looks great, as do any Winterland releases. Great '85 shows off the top (previously mentioned) 9-3-05 Starlight, Richmond's 11/1, 11/2, Greek 6-14 is fantastic all the way through and has the amazing Keep On Growing. Not sure if I already posted these thoughts earlier or not. Weird.
  21. Didn't read the article/criticism of the new Krakaur but wondering what the public (VC) consensus is on it. I've enjoyed all his other books very much but the subject matter in this one has me hesitant....
  22. Spirit Trail is excellent. I'd definitely go with free tix.
