  1. They need to forge ahead if only because no one likes a quitter.

  4. To be clear, I'm not claiming the statement as true, just that it's what he said to me in a conversation. He told me this about 6-7 years ago at Quixote's in Denver playing with Stir Fried. Wonder why he'd say it....
  5. Have you tried offering the cat a smoke? Maybe you guys can become smoking pals or something and this whole thing'll just blow over.
  6. Elaborate, please. Not really a superstition, but: to not claim a victory until the absolute last out. I started this "superstition" after calling my brother during the 8th inning of the 2003 ALCS game 7 right before Jeter and Bernie got on base. I was prematurely celebrating. I blame myself for the entire fiasco and my brother has never let me live it down. Though he did call me during Lester's 8th inning of his no-hitter last year and just whispered "shhhhhh" and hung up.
  7. Right on. It's my favorite season. My girl said she'll check back with me in Nov.
  8. I remeber hearing the Croby and Garcia stuff but that's about it. Pretty muddy recording that I recall. Mostly goofing around jamming stuff, too.
  9. -I didn't think so but Cage said he did, hence the question. And I agree he wasn't great but was certainly decent enough (actually caught him playing on a tune once w/Dylan + Dead-'87 I think. I, at first, thought he had sat down to draw pictures or something in the middle of the show I was so taken aback). Garcia didn't have a drug "habit" back then, though you're right, his plate was full.
  10. You're ridiculous. The kid has lived up to any "hype" surrounding him. He was in the top 20 prospects list for most major outlets -(BP, etc.) and had an excellent season last year on the bases , hitting, and defensively.
  11. My kids love "Just a Kid" and not just it made the SpongeBob soundtrack. It's a big danmce number for the two year old, especially. "IATTBYR" they lall ike a lot. "Love and Mercy" is big with the 8-yr. old. "Hoodoo Voodoo." What kid or adult can't love that? "What Light" and "Either Way" are up there, too. "War on War" yused to bum my 7 and 8 yr. olds out because of the "you have die...."
  12. I've heard some of the Rolling Thunder sessions and bits and pieces from his barn hiatus stuff. I used to have the album Rolling Thunder on vinyl and it had Garcia, Weir, Lesh, Steven Stills, Tower of Power horns, Paul Kantner, Grace Slick, Zakir Hussain, and a slew of others adding to it. It also featured "The Pump Song" which became "Greatest Story" but was set to a water pump on his property. "Playing in the Band" is on there, as well. Quite a good album, for the most part.
  13. Holy crap I was gonna list "Dirty Business" as it was the first tune that usually pops into my head for full-on pedal steel euphoria, however I always thought it was cage on that. Wow. ed. side note: Cage told me once that he taught Garcia how to play pedal steel. I kind of smirked as I thought Garcia pre-dated him on it. Do you know anything on this?
  14. Someone gave this to me last weekend and it's excellent. Right up my alley with history, interesting and obscure facts, and etymology throughout. Only 25 pages in but I can tell it'll be a favorite.
  15. Players: Buddy Cage Barry Sless Robert Randolph Garcia was decent enough, too.
  16. This was my first thought. Not even DH room, which is where he'd likely be relegated to with the near-constant injuries. I've heard talk that his bat, slow last year, was even slower in ST. Not a great sign for signing on somewhere else, particularly leaning towards a DH spot. Though, I'd imagine DET would be picking up most of the tab for him, so....
  17. Any follow up to that? EI has upped it's "early bird" special this year from $159-> $169. Still a good deal, though.
  18. Missed this one, too. Gah! Happy belated, ttl! :twitchsmile :badger :badger :badger :badger :badger
  19. Don't know anyone around here who got Red Rocks tix. Weird. Anyone seen these kids? McLovins (14, 15, 16 year olds). Not bad for a few kids- YEM: Harry Hood:
  20. blue: sorry I missed this (I was computer-free for the weekend). Happy belated, man.
  21. I absolutely loved that they played the entire tune and I absolutely love the prolonged chicken fights. The longer the bit the funnier, to me.
  22. Stones: Exile John Hiatt: Walk On
