Nice to hear. Thanks. I've grow to appreciate Jackie more and more over the past year. He's grown up (musically) quite a bit, imo, through his playing with Phil & co.

If You Seek A One State Depression; Look About You

Hope it turns into a blessing in disguise. Things tend to work out. Best of luck. -
Sounds like a great night of tunes, miss jayne. Were Bob and Phil on the bill or was it a surprise guest deal?
-
Oops. Didn't realize it was a May game.

Currently, there's a really good documentary on him on the Sundance channel. ed. Thinking about the mystic sounds that can be gotten up at Red Rocks and Cohen and his band is tempting....

Nomah.

Billy is playing in town tonight w/ Oteil and some fellah from Max Creek. He went down to a pal's loacal freak bar on Tues. and sat in with some band, too. Missed it and will miss tonight but by all accounts he's still a beast.

I dvr'd both (the only way I can partially stomach the show is to have the power to ff through it at will). Might watch some tonight.

I've heard/read too many baseball players say that it can make a difference to think that they are not tangible factors. I agree that his presence will help. Speaking of which: Thome is 57 or 58 away from 600.

Shhhh...there is no more clubhouse "presence" as there is a clubhouse "cancer."

So the monkey symbolizes Congress?

I'd say it's not thinking it through far enough for the cartoonist to not realize it could be considered racist and stupidity on the part of the paper for running it. ed. Then again, I don't know the artist and his history (^).

His cousin and he decided to take steroids twice a month for about 6 months.... Mm-hmm.
-
His "cousin" injected it, though.

I watched some of this last night. I need to watch the program from the beginning, though.

Well geez now I feel like a fool. I didn't know y'all were referencing another book. I think you'd survive The Brothers Karamazov if you were pressed to. Otherwise, it may be a grand challenge.

One of my favorites.

I'm with you, Moss. I saw her perform on Martha's Vineyard in '88 at an outdoor band shell and she sounded nice, but in terms of her pairing with Dylan I'm not a big fan. Her voice doesn't do it for me. Nothing political about it. Her cover of Gabriel's "Biko" is my favorite thing of hers.

Thanks calvino. I'm still torrent-dumb, though.

Brothers Karamazov was an assignment in college and I laughed at it's heft and figured I'd never get through it. I started it and really got into it and finished it. I had to lead a small group discussion on it and the discussion (certainly not because I lead) was one of my most memorable from English classes back then. Finishing that book made tackling Moby Dick a year later an easier mental task.

I have had a Freeborn Hall (8-30-74) LOM tape since about 1982 that has had a few hundred listens. The "He Ain't Give You None" on it still dazzles me. Anyone have any Great American String Band (with Taj Mahal on bass)? I don't think I've ever heard any of these shows. It was a brief incarnation from spring '74-summer '74....

This is a few weeks old but still relevant re: Ortiz' wrist: http://www.wcsh6.com/sports/story.aspx?sto...242&catid=6 Can't say I'm thrilled if he does play in the WBC even if the wrist is supposedly totally healed.

Neil Diamond is a one-man force. Do not take him lightly. He still kills out there.

It could be one time funnier than Borat and it'd be funnier than Borat.
