  1. Dude's airborn over your head....cool.
  2. It was nice to see you.... Thanks, man. My wife is afraid to leave it in the driveway now....
  3. The vast majority of friends/'heads I've met in the roughly 40 yrs I've been listening/seeing them have no problem whatsoever criticizing/panning/ragging on any aspect of the band/tunes. Remember, this is a base crowd whom collectively and successfully incited the band to stop playing a tune that they, collectively, deemed not up to par with expectations....
  4. Someone smashed in the entire back window of my wife's car while we were sleeping last night. Although we have a 3-car garage, we park in the driveway during warm weather. Both our cars were parked in the driveway (right off the street) in front of the garage, per usual, next to each other. My vehicle has one window decal in the lower back corner of a dancing skeleton with top hat. My wife has a few stickers on the back of her car, most recent and notable a good-sized "RESIST" sticker. I can't help but think that this was the sole reason her car was vandalized and mine was not. With no pr
  5. ^ Yep. Also, from what I've read/learned, too, the documentary wasn't intended to be a comprehensive time line of the band, rather a look at the and from various angles. A little odd that Vince and Keith were glossed over, but hey, its a chunk of art in its own right. Either way, I enjoyed it for what it it. Theres plenty of varied ways to glean insight into the band through text and the tunes.
  6. Duke '78. The entire show (particularly 2nd set) is very "animated". Garcia actually catches air at the end of U.S. Blues... Here's a little longer clip. Dig Billy's stick toss, perfectly timed, too (hope this doesn't link directly to my FB page....): https://www.facebook.com/musicplayedtheband/videos/1941857809394633/
  7. I've watched all but last night's shows and continue to be mighty impressed with what they are doing. Just a lot of fun.
  8. He didn't! It was still good, though.
  9. Heh. I had to switch to Song Pop 2. I don't like as much as 1....
  10. When I saw the setlist for this show last week I wanted to hear this. I wasn't sure if there'd be lyrics or not. Still, nice take on it. A little heavy on Firero's flute, but really nice.
  11. I'm confused about the logistics: headed to upstate NY and wanting to hit Mt Washington (New Hampshire)? Mt Washington is really a cool drive and a trip once you get to the top (highest recorded wind, I believe).
  12. Nor I but in DR we hit a tour of a tobacco, chocolate (cocoa), and rum plantation that was a lot of fun. Got to watch old-timers rolling cigars and bought a few flavored ones. Dude rolling was sporting a Red Sox lid, too, so I kind of had no option but to wacth and buy something.
  13. I don't know but the cigars I brought back from the Dominican were pretty good....
  14. Thanks for the overview/insight! We were under the impression that American citizens had to buy group packages to travel there. We will look into it again. Sounds awesome!
  15. Same here, but almost always it inevitably kicks in at certain times. I can't control comparisons when I'm at a Dead & LLD show (only been to 2), in particular. I can't help it. Something like a JRAD show, though, I generally don't.
  16. My guess is Weir is brushing Mayer off as he encroached on his space? but, could be something else...
  17. Exactly my sentiments. It's competent music, but it does not stand out in any way for me. AND, if you have viewed this gif from a show last week, it's really quite funny: https://media.giphy.com/media/3o7btTfWcw0oteONPO/giphy.gif
  18. Totally. re: the in-ear monitors. The band had been using them for several years and, while the playing was sometimes sloppy in parts, I can't fault the in-ear monitors for that. And, certainly not for the train wreck of the above-mentioned Wharf Rat. That was a death call if I ever heard one.
  19. It was one of those moments (a long "moment") where people around me and myself were all kind of cringing and awkwardly looking around in bewilderment. I almost felt embarrassed for Garcia. It was sad.
  20. I'll have to listen again but in ,my memory it was Garcia playing so far off the mark that the rest of the band wasn't quite sure what to do....
  21. I had tickets to to both Giants Stadium shows summer '95. My gf (at the time) and I gave our tickets for the second night away on the walk out on the first night, it was that weak. Garcia completely fucked up Wharf rat (I realize that this kind of thing happens some times and no one's perfect, etc.) to the point that it was sad, pathetic, and honestly, a little frightening.I was stunned. Listen to it, if you dare. It was like a different tune the first quarter of it. The entire show was just a bummer. It was my last show, too.
