  1. Yep....done that too. We used to drop acid and watch that over and over. The scene where Lance is tripping out and he tells Chef "hey man, you know that last tab of acid I was saving?.....I dropped it " would send us into gales of laughter.
  2. Apocalypse Now (Redux Version) This movie will seriously fuck with your head (even if stone cold sober)
  3. hmmmmm Little Rock, Louisville. where the hell does Nashville fit in? They need to come on down and play the Ryman again!!!!
  4. I just couldn't get into any of the spin off bands, Further Festival, Ratdog, Phil and Friends, etc. To me the music doesn't sound the same, which of course is understandable. It just seems to lack that "wow" factor to me. Also what's up with Weir these days with his elder statesman look? Disclaimer: was never a huge Bobby fan anyways
  5. your so ugly you gotta sneak up on your food to get something to eat
  6. PigPen: alcohol abuse/ liver disease Keith: Car Crash Brent : Overdose Vince: Suicide I believe Not a good record at all....... Yeah...not exactly an upbeat tune huh?
  7. Jeeeeezus....that part in "Playin'" where she does the screech/wail thing. Makes my teeth hurt. Lammy yer absolutely right about Keith just mimicking guitar parts...he could play though, back in the day. That's one job I would never take, being the Dead's keyboard guy. Kind of the hot seat there, not a good track record for living long after getting that gig. (Though Hornsby and T.C. are still alive)
  8. It's not too bad, but I'm not a huge fan of it. They overdubbed the hell out of it in the studio...it's kind of not really live. But I do dig the 1972 stuff
  9. You can never go wrong with Live Dead. In my opinion the studio albums (some are good) just do not capture the true sound and spirit of the Dead. Live recordings are where they can really stretch out and soar. Try some from different time periods, you would be amazed in the difference between a song like Playin' In The Band from 1972 and the same song from 1989. Experiment!
  10. yeah it's pretty good. Not to everyone's taste though, but I like it.
  11. The Bird Song on that is fairly new, if you want to hear the first ever version of that song it's on the Vault Three disc that prompted this thread 2-19-71.
  12. some good stuff there. I love how that song is never the same....good version to check out is the Darkstar from the Rockin' The Rhine CD......Darkstar > Me And My Uncle > Darkstar sounds weird but it works
  13. Tons of stuff out there for your perusal on the various torrent sites, also check out dead.net every Monday. They have a section there called tapers section and always have a lot of really tasty stuff there. (but you probably already know about this). Can't go wrong with the various dick's picks either, fairly priced.
  14. You are correct sir! (although I am ALWAYS up for a good 20 Plus minute Darkstar or Cryptical) I do like some 80's and 90's stuff. Good songs like you mentioned. I just like the way they played back in the day rather than the 80-90's stuff. There are a lot of latter year shows (especially in the 90's) when they seemed to be mailing it in. Of course Jerry was all junked out and all but......
  15. I'm in that same camp...I rarely listen to post 1980 (ok really 1977) Dead. I like this show even if it isn't as spacey as 72-74 stuff. This time period (end of 69 through 71) has been referred to as the "stop and turn on a dime" phase of their career. I like the Playin'. Sure it doesn't go out into deep space but it's kinda neat how it just sort of stops. You can almost hear them thinking "hell yeah, we gotta put a jam in here somewhere". I like the show but think they could have picked a stronger on for the Third vault release.
  16. Hell yeah it was! Now we need another Ryman show! The sooner the better
  17. Oh sure, I'm not advocating mayhem. People don't need to be exposed to boorish behavior and all, it just seems so, I don't know what the word is. Vanilla. Know what I mean? Ah anyways.......Sox won last night so all is good.
  18. That's fucking Blasphemy! Jesus I remember the good old days in the 70's going to Fenway...you could pretty much do whatever you wanted to back then. People used to smoke doobies in the bleachers and whatnot. Now...... God knows I love the Sox and was (am) ecstatic about 2004 but it just seems so crazy lately (disclaimer: have not actually attended a game since 2004) gazillion dollar beers and food, parking, etc,etc I know they have to wring every $ outta that park but damn. If your interested, on Boston.com this guy Eric Wilbur has a blog and he was ranting about the "New Breed" of Sox fa
  19. He's also a member of the Tri-Lateral Commission
  20. yeah...the "Yankee Mystique" if that was true why didn't security toss her. I understand they are pretty tough about stuff like that, banning "Yankees Suck" t-shirts and all. Even the NY Post was questioning that. It would seem that the Yankees are in a bit of a free-fall. Speculation is that 'Ol Georgie is pretty bad off (Dementia) and they don't want to wheel him out in public anymore. No one seems to know who is running the show there anymore, Proctor is torching his glove after the games and Pettite sucked bad yesterday (great pic of him in the NY Post looking like a trout).
  21. When this was going on Saturday I really enjoyed the interviews with the eye witnesses...The one guy who went after one of the bombers was great. I wonder if he gave him a "Glasgow Kiss" Nice to see a citizen step up like that. Especially a Scotsman ( My family is Scottish and Irish)
