Jeff Tweedy — 18 July 2023, St. Louis, MO (The Sheldon Concert Hall)
H to the ickle replied to bböp's topic in After The Show
It was a great show at a great venue. So glad I was able to attend. -
I played "I Can't Keep From Talking" as the recessional at my older sister's wedding, everyone seemed to like it.
-
This is such a dumb conversation. Why does it happen like once a month?
-
I really hope they don't play "You Never Know" because it's a pretty crappy song and not representative of the album at all. I'd expect to hear either the title track, One Wing, or I'll Fight.

Bull Black Nova and Pulp Fiction. What the Ef..?

Because no one was ever killed in a car before Tarantino thought it up -
It just seems like if it was something else, they'd be more specific and sanctimonious.
-
On the subject of his cause of death, when a press release says, "... from complications due to surgery" and does not specify what kind of surgery, it was usually cosmetic.

Yeah, the hammer/pull is easier to do and sounds just about right, I just like how smooth it sounds sliding.
-
If you're playing Capo 3, the little slide/fill between stanzas is something like G]-2/-4/-2p-0 D]-----------2 Which would of course harmonize with a higher bit if playing with though guitars, but on its own it sounds pretty good.
-
Well whoever wrote it isn't a very good writer. Some decent observations but his prose is for shit.
-
The intro bit is basically picking on/around the chords listed above and yeah, most of the time it's an Em.
-
Am I the only one who plays this song in Open G with a capo on 2? It's so much easier than holding that A shape for the whole song.

Everyone in my section of the balcony looked at me funny because of how loud I was when Wait Up started. I was excited.
-
So great. I was in balcony and drove all the way from Columbia, MO to be there.

Basically about who we thought came out on top after Tupelo broke down. We both agreed it was Tweedy.
-
Last week in the middle of class I had a pretty spirited Wilco/Uncle Tupelo conversation with my Professor,
-
I live in Columbia, MO, so yes, I have met quite a few people that know/like Wilco and Uncle Tupelo. Oddly enough at the MU Health center, one of the doctors there used to work at a record store with Tony Margherita and a friend of mine from High School's mom went to High School in Belleville and knew Jeff and Jay.

Jeff Tweedy solo tour winter 2009?

Just got my ticket this morning. Anyone interested in carpooling from Columbia, MO to the show? -
Wow, you managed to make one of my favorite Wilco songs into my least favorite Phish song. You deserve a stiff prison sentence.
-
Why is this thread still going on, don't you people have families?

I thought I knew what comedy was, what did I know?
-
This new record is a resounding disappointment. I feel like I've heard all these songs before.
-
I'm playing "I Can't Keep from Talking" (Golden Smog, I believe) at my sister's wedding, it's a great one.

EW's List of the 100 "New Classics" (books since 1983)
H to the ickle replied to redpillbox's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I'm glad Watchmen and Sandman made that list. Also, no Chuck Palahniuk?? -
I've heard Wilco or Uncle Tupelo in just about every establishment I frequent in Columbia. Go figure. The best was when "Whiskey Bottle" was playing in Shakespeare's Pizza while I was drinking whiskey and sitting under the fabled "Liquor, Guns, and Ammo" sign (which used to be out on the highway and is referenced in the song).
