Congrats to VCers down under! Looks like well-deserved Wilco shows ahead. (Heck, I'd like to see Wilco in Australia!) Dates are officially up on wilcoworld I see now.

Just an FYI, for what it's worth (?!): I talked to the venue and still no word on an opener. (Also, for anyone that cares: no food is served and they said call the day of performance regarding whether cameras are allowed...think someone else mentioned this in the previous thread...)

what magazines, newspapers do you subscribe to?
Clouds of Fluff replied to Atticus's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I forgot National Geographic as well. We also tired of RS a couple of years ago finally, and have been getting Paste instead as our "music, etc. reading fix". Anyone else get/read Paste? What do you think of it out of curiousity? -
Rosanne Cash's "Most Fun Live Performance That Wasn't Me"
Clouds of Fluff replied to Clouds of Fluff's topic in Just A Fan
She got heckled during her set that day then? -
I've been listening a lot to Rosanne Cash's grammy nominated Black Cadillac and I check in on her website occasionally ('cos I keep hoping I might catch a show of hers some day and besides that, I find her writing very entertaining and thoughtful...). I came across her year end column and was pleasantly surprised to see one of her favorite shows this year was Wilco's set at the Ottawa Blues Festival. Read her column here: http://www.rosannecash.com/monthly.html

Aww, very nice. Your son has good taste! (how old is he?) It's tough making a living here, but it's the hills that keep us trying I think. And we know lots about ESU as well. LOL (hubby graduated from there...and worked there...and...) Aww, I'm sorry. Actually if it's any of the schools I know of there, they are all quite good. I actually lived there briefly (in Johnson County)...luckily went to school in the "city" which made it more tolerable. Was glad to high-tail it outta there myself after graduation... Congratulations! Here's to greener pastures and country living.

We actually subscribe to Paste and Gourmet. Other mags we get, are gifts (mostly from my little grandma): FibroAware, Parents (couldn't hurt) , Midwest Living (I actually like this, cool stuff about our region, including Chi town, etc.) and then Better Homes & Gardens (???) And then I just discovered I got a subscription to Ladies Home Journal for Xmas...wtf? And we did get our local paper for awhile (it comes out once a week), but then I realized they were putting all the "content" LOL online for free...so...??? -
(LOL, I was just telling someone the same thing!)

(An interview and photos of Jeff all in one morning?!) Excellent shots of Jeff. Thanks for sharing them with us. (You can just see his sense of humor coming through too...like the one of him holding the guitar like...well, a smelly sock or something.) Your pics of Africa are breathtaking though. Truly. Amazingly beautiful. If you don't mind me asking, what part did you travel to? Thanks again for sharing all of these with us.

There's a cross above the baby's bed, A Saviour in her dreams. But she was not delivered then, And the baby became me. There's a light inside the darkened room, A footstep on the stair. A door that I forever close, To leave those memories there. So when the shadows link them, Into an evening sun. Well first there's summer, then I'll let you in. September when it comes. I plan to crawl outside these walls, Close my eyes and see. And fall into the heart and arms, Of those who wait for me. I cannot move a mountain now; I can no longer run. I cannot be who I was then: In a way, I never was.

oh, and Wendy, it seems we like a lot of the same music! (funny that.) Well, of course, the obvious...but Finns, Shins...and now I see my fave Ryan Adams album on your signature. Peaceful Valley

We are out in the country too turtlegirl37! Only more like 100 miles from Larry---we live outside of Emporia in the Flint Hills. (Do you know where that is?) Thinking of the show on the 12th as well, but will probably wait a day or two to get tix...hopefully it won't sell out. Are you at KU then? I was in grad school there and took stats as well (okay it's been a *cough* few years ago)...ugh. I certainly think a night of could only help renew your motivation and excitement to learn even more about stats...in fact I think it would be quite necessary. (I'm sure your prof would agree t

Thanks for posting this. Very excited to see the Lawrence dates... Yeah, I can't believe two dates?! (Too bad they are on a Monday/Tuesday though...oh well...what's sleep during the work week anyway!) Will have to check out SNL too...thanks!

More great pics kidsmoke, thank you! Great shots of Glenn BTW...he's a hard man to photo me thinks....always in motion...or mobile, if you will. *ducks* Now that creativetype has revealed what kind of camera he uses (LOL), do you mind telling us what you were using as well? I'm on a quest to find a new camera...you guys have inspired me. And wow again creativetype, what an awesome slideshow! Thanks again!! You guys are so kind to share all these little gems. What a great memory.

Wendy, thanks for posting this. Looking forward to Neil's release next year; brother Tim has one coming out in the U.S. as well after the first of the year (although, it's already been released down under). BTW, are you a Finn fan? (Sorry, just don't know too many peeps like myself and hubby that are fans of Wilco and the Finns! Got a bit excited when I saw your post...)

Thought I would mention too, that this same song, "Replace You" is available on the Paste Magazine Sampler (most recent issue).

Sorry to bump this, but just had to say... Had a chance to listen to the recording this weekend and am just loving it. And...wow, what fantastic layout/artwork options with this recording...I can't choose which one I want to use! Very, very cool stuff. Thank you, and thank you again! (And kidsmoke, sorry you're under the weather...hope you're feeling better soon.)

Amazing shots. Sounds like a fabulous show. Hope Jeff will enjoy some well deserved R&R for a bit here... That venue is really something...looking back at some of the other photos on the link, there's a great one from Nels/Glenn's show (in July) where Glenn is shaving off his mustache? LOL (Yay for the Calexico shots too...)

jono11, been looking for it, so yes, please do post a link when you get a chance. (Not sure I was looking in the right place...how often does the paper come out?) Thank you in advance! And appreciate all the effort timewasajoke and creativetype are putting into this recording. Will look forward to it whenever it's done. Sounds like you guys have done something special to commemorate such a great night. Big thanks to you as well!

Thanks for sharing that link and the sampler BTW. Here's the Epitonic site I tracked down after seeing Jeff perform this in Lyons that has various free downloads from each Handsome Family album (including So Much Wine) if you are interested. (I was also anxious to learn more about the Handsome Family after hearing this beautiful song). Just click here and look down the right of the page for the downloads.

I noticed at the Wichita show that one of the roadies (?) joined in right behind Pat on this bit with a maraca (I think). Wonder if the one arm tambourine was him? Good stuff in any case.

jono11, do you mind telling us which school/paper so we can look for it? Thanks!
