  1. Definitely a VU style on that song. Didn't tie it directly to Waiting for the Man, but it makes sense.
  2. Here too, Scott. Sometimes it's nice knowing that your musical idols aren't widely known. You can get closer to them and it's like you're in on some kind do secret. Today, though, I wanted to turn on the radio and hear every station mourning Lou with marathons of his music.
  3. I think I may be happy with Roadrunner on repeat for the rest of my life.
  4. Discovering Lou Reed and VU, mostly through Bowie and cooler, older friends changed my musical landscape like nothing else.
  5. I wonder if the FedEx gut knows he's my dealer. And the bit about Pringles was originally going to be a tennis ball company, but they delivered potatoes instead of rubber and said WTF, lets make chips.
  6. Well obviously Weezer. I mean, they're good and all, but 2nd highest rated album? Please.
  7. I don't think there's any consensus of the long view of history. It's nice(and sometimes quite easy) to see things that way when there's movement in a direction you like. There could almost always, though, be a well supported opposing point of view.
  8. You could be talking about ACA or drones here, or the NSA's spying program.
  9. Competition lowers prices, but adding a legal requirement increases demand which could more than offset the decrease. Fundamental. Prices may eventually go down by adding healthier people to the pool, but my point is there are several economic forces at work here.
  10. err... weight. And I first typed wait. I've lost a shit ton of sleep and brain cells.
  11. My wife just got a t-shirt that says I
  12. I listened to No Line on the Horizon. Probably the 2nd time I listened to it. Not bad.
  13. Okay, you're no longer dead to me. Anyone who says the Beatles are overrated has no concept of history. Period. Look at rock music in 1963 and what it was by 1970. Their willingness to pioneer Dylanesque, psychedelic, and experimental music and put their popularity on the line in doing so forever changed EVERYTHING in pop music.
  14. In defense of the Replacements: They were really never hard core, or even punk, when that was all that mattered in indie. Paul Westerberg could turn a phrase or melt you heart like no songwriter from the 80s. Their music still sounds vibrant and alive much more than, say, R.E.M. Their live shows were unpredictable, spontaneous, drunken messes. Perfect rock and roll attitude. This says nothing of their influence on the artists who followed, probably none more than Wilco.
  15. Margaret Cho was in the Bob Mould tribute concert a couple of years ago. She can't sing, and she's not ever made much of an impression upon me as a comedienne. Oh well.
  16. I have heard that some states have had premiums go up, others go down. There could be a ton of economic factors at play. One would expect them to go down because you have more healthy people joining the insured. But now purchasing insurance is a requirement, increasing demand, and possibly allowing insurance companies to take advantage of the requirement by raising or keeping rates the same to increase their profits.
  17. Yeah, Fox News is pretty much the equivalent of my retired family members who have nothing better to do than click "share" on unverified Facebook stories all day.
  18. Repeating myself on this thread, but I think Royal Tenenbaums is the most emotionally satisfying and my favorite WA movie. This looks damn good.
  19. Once I figured that out, this place became a lot more enjoyable.
  20. How cool would it be for the 'Mats to go in with KISS and play Black Diamond together in the induction? Not going to happen, but still...
