My take: Right now our most important energy priority should be energy independence. The less we have to depend on the Saudis for oil, the less hypocritical we have to be kissing ass to this truly evil regime. Finding clean renewables is important, but not as immediate of a need putting ourselves in a position to be able to deal with Saudi Arabia and other like regimes with our values in mind rather than our energy needs. So, yeah... Drill, baby, drill. Frack, baby, frack, but also invest the profits from these adventures in R&D into alternatives.

Not a huge Bottle Rockets fan, but I thought I'd contribute here to let y'all know that they're touring as the opening/backing band for Marshall Crenshaw. They're playing here in Des Moines. I may check that out.

I really enjoy that version, but not as much as the original. There are, however, times I enjoy Devo's take on Satisfaction more than the Stones. -

Not familiar. I tried listening to some of his solo stuff a while back when I was re-exploring Sabbath, none of it stuck. -
Sometimes I think Sir Stewart and I share the same brain, only he makes better use of it.

The Twins have done next to nothing this off season. Build a new stadium because you need it to stay competitive. Whatever. They're still small market, but not making any smart choices so far as I can tell.

So glad to see this.

Ozzy Osbourne. Crazy Train. I like quite a bit of Sabbath, but can't think of another Oz solo I like. -
I really like the hand claps on Here Comes the Sun.

I'm sure anyone who cares has seen it, but if you haven't, I'll post it now.

Replacements - Tim Let it Be is so damn iconic and they follow it up with that. I'd put it up, but I'm on an iPad and it's a pain.

This is why the 2 party system sucks. I have done many of those things, but a handful of party leaders set the agenda. We saw a little compromise last month, and maybe more will be on the way. Of course, the biggest key to deficit reduction is a growing economy.

Did you read my post? I am a registered Republican and a fiscal conservative and for some tax increases. Granted, I'm in the minority, but there are others of us out there. We just get ignored because we are not too loud and not too interesting. That and we go against both the left and right wing's media narrative.

Fact: every dollar spent on interest on the national debt is a dollar we can't spend on other things or wipe off the budget altogether.

I think we're stuck in an awful Catch-22. Protectionism won't improve the economy, and manufacturing jobs aren't coming back. To your first point, as a fiscal conservative who thinks the top has been able to slide too much for too long, I believe part of the solution is increasing taxes for the top wage earners AND those who make a living of capital gains. Capital gains taxes being lower makes sense to encourage investment, but when your prime source of income is capital gains, then a good chunk of it should be taxed like everyone else's income. The Bush tax cuts made sense when he in

Unfortunately, the LP the did together sucked. Would've loved to seen that show. Glad to have seen Crazy Horse on the Ragged Glory tour with Sonic Youth opening and some other 90s alt act (Social Distortion?) opening. Loved the baby boomers' reactions to SY.

A great park. I haven't been there since the remodel.

Absolutely agree. Love the mixing of the 2 guitar parts of the title track. So damn good.

Not the Boston Gardens nostalgia thread I was expecting.

Also, it's killing the larvae of the Emerald Ash Borer which is killing Ash tress all through the midwest.

I think the Rolling Stones sound way better in the studio. After reading the Keith bio, I feel that opinion is validated. The guy experimented like crazy. Might say the same for The Who, but when Pete, Keith, and John were in form, probably not. There are lots of other band who sounded so different live and in studio that it's hard to pick. Sugar comes to mind. Bob Mould produced Copper Blue and Beaster like crazy and I love listening to those as loud as possible. Live, they played them as loud as possible, but completely stripped down, raw and in your face.

I love American Beauty and Workingman's Dead. Never understood why people are so down on their studio output with those 2 gems. It's been a long time since I listened to it, but I remember really liking Blues for Allah as well.
