  1. Lovett played Friend of the Devil per my request posted to Facebook and called me out by name. Pretty damn cool night.
  2. No spoilers, please because I'm a couple of episodes behind, but I'm really enjoying it. Especially Billy Bob Thornton.
  3. Prince turning up a few times on here really shocks me. He's released A LOT of crap, but could really do no wrong from 1982-87 and plenty of gems since then.
  4. That looks like it would be a good follow up Zealot that I recently read.
  5. Closest to seeing somebody before the really broke big was Alice in Chains opening for Iggy Pop in an arthouse movie theater in Louisville in the Fall of 1990.
  6. There is something about that. I think it's the piano.
  7. This is why I'll never give up Woody Allen movies. I used to worship Kirby Puckett, then found out what an asshole he was. At that point I decided that if a public figure was talented at what they did, I would appreciate it if NOT the person. It's kind of weird to believe Paul Simon, John Denver, and Jackson Browne all been implicated in domestic violence at some point in their lives.
  8. Monkey Man is unbelievably great, but I don't think I've ever heard it on the radio.
  9. Streaming on NPR. http://www.npr.org/2014/04/20/303387128/first-listen-nels-cline-singers-macroscope?utm_source=twitter.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=nprmusic&utm_term=music&utm_content=20140420
  10. I kind of wonder as Gene and Paul continue to age if they've thought about retiring, but replacing themselves with younger versions. The makeup is already beginning to look ridiculous on their aging faces and it's clear they cannot move around the stage in those boots the way the used to. KISS w/o any of the original members wouldn't sell nearly as well. But making a tribute band the "official" version of KISS could add some cache that Gene and Paul could profit from and that's what it's all about for those guys.
  11. I like the idea of hearing him sing My Hometown.
  12. I really respect what Scorsese did with this one. I'm kind of ashamed of how many of my fellow Christians treated it. It is probably the only cinematic presentation of Christ that shows his full humanity. Passion of the Christ, maybe, but the bloodlust that overtakes the 2nd half of that movie makes you quickly forget anything else. I think it also captures the spirit of Judea under Roman control more fully than any other "Biblical Epic." While there are obvious liberties with the Gospel, they mostly show temptation. In the end, Jesus overcomes his temptation and fulfills his mission.
  13. Thanks for sharing. That was a good read.
  14. Even though it's a concept he attacked in his speech, Morello probably gives more credibility than Ian.
  15. Weird synchronicity. Just got to this on my DVR.
  16. When I saw Olson/Louris, they played lots of Rainy Day Music. Surprised re-formed Jayhawks don't.
  17. Thanks. I've heard lots of people say that, and while it's heart-wrenching to see your child sick, having had a similar virus a few weeks ago, I would say it was worse for me when I was sick. I'd take a bullet for my kids, but not the stomach flu.
