  1. SOMEBODY PLEASE RECOMMEND ME A BOOK! OK, maybe all caps wasn't neccesary but I need some book reccomendations because I feel like I've hit a wall! I absolutely love Kurt Vonnegut. Some more of my favorite authors are Phillip K Dick Steinbeck Tom Robbins Christopher Moore Chuck P (Not even going to try and spell that last name.) I'm looking for something that doesn't take itself too seriously, yet still is a thoughful read, kind of like Vonnegut I suppose. Any help is appreciated!
  2. Cool review! No disrespect to your review, or anything of the sort, but I absolutely hate limited release beers and think they are ruining the craft beer scene. That's a rant I'll try not to go on but scarce marketing and such which has been perfected by breweries like Three Floyds is an absolute joke and makes me hate the craft beer scene. That being said, I love good beer! One of my recent favorites is the Ballast Point Victory at Sea. Have you tried that one?
  3. Sorry if this isn't allowed or if it's the wrong forum, I mean no harm! Got this poster back in 2007 and had it matted and framed. Long story short, I'm moving soon, the frame was chipping and I could use some money, so I'm looking to sell this. I really like the mat, so I was thinking someone might be interested in getting it with the mat. It would have to be shipped flat so I'm not sure what the shipping would be, but from what I gather it might be close to $40 for the shipping. I don't really have a price in mind, so I'm willing to take offers. Picture isn't the greatest, but you ge
  4. I enjoy Wilco much more than DMB, but let's be honest here. In 2010 both Wilco and DMB played in Rome. Wilco played a venue that holds under 2,000 I believe and DMB played a venue that holds around 10,000. Even if DMB isn't selling out, they're still selling a lot more tickets than Wilco is.
  5. Wow, thank you guys so much! Can't believe someone had that! I'm downloading the show that howjado posted, but if it doesn't work I'll let you know bbop! Thanks again so much, this is awesome!
  6. Thanks for the response! It looks like there's only When God Made Me and This Old Guitar from that show on youtube. It used to be up, and I used to have the set on my computer, but when my computer died, I didn't have any backups. figured there seems to be some Neil fans here so there's a 1% chance of finding, which is better then my chance otherwise at this point ha.
  7. I know this is random and I apologize for making a new topic! I'm looking for a video or audio download of Neil Young's "Southern Man" from Farm-Aid 2005! I used to have it, but lost it and can't find it. Was my first time seeing Neil and was floored by this performance and would love the chance to be able to hear it again! Sorry again for the randomness.
  8. That's funny because my friend is a realitive fan of My Morning Jacket, like most of their stuff but also doesn't like some of their stuff at all. Anyways, he really like the new album and Bermuda Highway is one of his all-time favorite songs. When I told him how great the new album sounded AND sent him a link to Bermuda Highway from the Vic show, he emailed me back 2 minutes later saying he just bought tickets to the LA show ha. Here is the bermuda highway video. It might be a little fast, but I personally loved it and didn't feel it was rushed at all!
  9. STATE OF THE ART KNOW TILL NOW DEAR ONE A NEW LIFE EXPLODING OF THE MOTHER AGAIN ACTRESS ALL IS FORGIVEN GOD'S LOVE ----- BERMUDA HIGHWAY (solo) DEAR GOD HIS MASTER'S VOICE RIGHT PLACE CHANGING WORLD LOSIN YOUR HEAD Just got back from this a bit ago and what a show! I'm not sure what people's opinions here were of Jim James new album, but let me tell, live, these songs are fantastic. Almost every one of them was stretched out with anything ranging from guitar solos, drum solos, saxaphones, keyboards....I was constantly amazed by what they did with these songs. The encore was also fanta
  10. Figured I'd start this up to see if anyone has heard it and what their thought are? It was streaming on NPR and I'm not sure if it still is. I like it! Very solid work, quite a bit different than most MMJ stuff but in a good way. The production is very good as well and it is a nice mix of songs that seem to fit together very well. Overall it was better than I expected and I can't wait for the tour to see what the shows are like
  11. Wish someone would have told Jay that "It's Just that Simple" doesn't need a distorted loud guitar solo.
  12. Different strokes for sure, but that's the great thing about music. It just seems like a pretty immature song in some aspects. "You can always count on your friends to get you high"/"You can always count on the 'rents to get you by" Just not my cup of tea I suppose!
  13. I don't exactly care for a song with the lines "now they make you piss into a plastic cup" If it's a sillier song maybe, something like "I might" But this is a beautiful song all things considered and I just feel like that line takes me right out of it. Only my opinion of course
  14. I love everything about that song....except the lyrics unfortunately and that's usually a deal breaker for me. The production sounds perfectly fine and the harmonies and melody is great, but I just can't get into the song lyrically at all
  15. Yeah, I mean, he does do that occasionally too I suppose. I think this kind of supports what I'm saying. I had no idea until I was just reading another thread that Jay recorded Cars Can't Escape in 2004 for a solo album, and I found a sample of it on Itunes, and it was pretty much unlistenable. Just complete overplaying everywhere. I might be totally wrong, since I didn't become a Wilco fan until 2005 or so, but everything I've gathered and seen, makes me think that Jay was pretty much too big a rock star for Wilco. I think even in I Am Trying to Break Your Heart, there's a part where Ja
  16. I may be in the minority, but I prefer it with the current line-up much better. I'm a huge Nels fan though. IMO Jay was great, but he really overplayed a lot, and that's probably because he wanted to have a bigger role in the band. In newer versions, Nels does a very good job of letting the verses breathe and throwing in licks between breaks in the lyrics, whereas Jay was almost playing over Jeff's singing and that was actually kind of annoying to me.
  17. I don't know if I'd agree with that. I think Circuital is good, and Evil Urges has a few good songs. Similar to Wilco actually, with Sky Blue Sky and Wilco (the album) I think Wilco fans were let down a bit with those, but at the same time, songs like Imposible Germany, You Are My Face and One Wing are all welcomed additions to any show! Same goes for Touch Me part 2, Circuital and Holdin on to Balck Metal (Not a huge fan of this song, but seeing it live is so much fun!)
  18. Just got back from seeing MMJ in Milwaukee It was only my 4th time seeing the band but it was an absolutely great show and they are so much fun live. My only complaint would probably be the setlist. It was great and all, but not very spontaneous. As I said it was only my 4th show, but I think I only heard two songs that I hadn't seen live before. I think they played 25 songs and that inluded Magheetah The Way that he Sings Outta my System Evil Urges It Beats 4 U Golden Black Metal Victory Dance Circuital I'm Amazed Anytime One Big Holiday Wonderful Wordless Chorus Gideon Touch Me Pt 2
  19. I would love to see Wilco release the entirety of the Incredible Shrinking Tour! Especially the Metro show though, because I was there and there isn't a good aud recording of it! haha
  20. Just wanted to top this and see if you had any luck with it, or if anyone else has!
  21. Hey, my XRT player just fell asleep haha
  22. it's pretty amazing how that happens sometimes. And yeah, I'd be surprised if they played it at this point.
  23. I remember a few years ago at the second night of back-to-back shows at the Pabst Theatre, Jeff came out wearing a Brewers hat, and during the encore break my friend through his Cubs hat on stage. It took awhile, but eventually Nels found it and Jeff tried it on but it was too small haha. Everyone booed also since it was Milwaukee.
  24. apparently this is the deep cut portion of the show. Kinda surprising!
