  1. I think part of the problem too, is that people take any criticism towards the band personally. If you want this entire site to be pro-wilco and have everything they do be perfect, that's fine, but I enjoy forums because people can voice their opinions, positive or negative and they can be discussed. I'm not pissed at the band, I'm not fuming at my computer, I'm simply stating that it could be frustrating for people who planned for that one show, when a day later they announced more dates in chicago.
  2. Well Wilco is becoming quite media savvy, so I credit them for that I suppose
  3. I know, that's what I'm saying. Originally, there was no reason to wait. They announced the tour, there was one chicago show. If they knew they were going to add more, then i don't agree with the bands tactics. It's not so "fun" when people need to plan with work for middle of the week shows. If they were added after the fact then that's fine, nothing you can do, but as one poster said, it was "fun" eh, not so much, more annoying for the working fan
  4. i mean, i guess it is more fun, but I guess it just sucks for me and my friends. We live about 40 miles North of the city and we don't get off work till 6, so making it to the venue in time is tough, let alone having to be up at 6 in the morning the next day. When the only show was announced we thought about taking a day off work, since that would be are only chance to see them in Chicago. Then they start putting out more shows that would have been more convenient to go to, but we already planned and took off work when if we knew they'd play more shows we wouldn't have to do that. I know it'
  5. Yeah, well life tends to get a little boring when you grow up and work full time and have responsibilities, so i'm glad you're life is a thrill a minute
  6. i have no problem playing 3 different venues in three nights, my problem is why they didn't announce them all at the same time? Anyone could have predicted the first show selling out like that, so they could have lined this all up beforehand
  7. Come to think of it, perhaps this was smart on wilco's part. i mean, throw three chicago shows on ticketmaster with the same on sale date and a larger number of different people have a chance to get a seat, but there's a greater chance that it might not sell out. however, have three shows, announce and sell them all on separate dates and it gives an individual an infinitely better chance of getting tickets to all three nights
  8. absolutely. it's actually kind of messed up how they did it. instead of presenting all the shows at once so people can choose they do them one at a time. They are playing all the shows in the middle of the week, which means that people have work and it's a bit of a mess anyways. However if I got tickets for the Monday show since that was the only one, I'd be kind of upset if they add a saturday show, because I would have chose that from the get-go so I wouldn't have to deal with the work issues. Surely they knew these shows would sell out, they are small places, it couldn't have been a surpr
  9. Cool they added, but sucks there's a two ticket limit. i get that they want to cut out scalpers and give more people a chance at tickets, but at what cost? why not just make it single tickets? I don't think they should even sell doubles, just have a one ticket limit, that's the way to go!
  10. And suddenly everyone's opinion of Capitol City changes
  11. I think the bottom line is, it doesn't matter, that's just how it goes. The Beatles songwriting credits don't say the entire band, same with the Rolling stones and probaby 99% of bands out there. It's just just a formality, people who listen to wilco know the band is more than just Tweedy, but technically they are Jeff's songs so that's just the way it goes
  12. I know that seems petty and stupid, but it was really a turnoff when Radiohead refused to meet with Miley Cyrus. I don't care what kind of music she makes or whatever, she was a fan excited to meet one of her favorite bands and they came across as elitist pricks by turning that down
  13. really? I think Circuital's cover is pretty awesome!
  14. 1. Art of Almost - 10/10 2. I Might - 7/10 3. Sunloathe - 8/10 4. Dawned on Me - 8/10 5. Black Moon - 8/10 6. Born Alone - 8/10 7. Open Mind - 7/10 8. Cap City - 7/10 9. Standing O - 7/10 10. Red Rising Lung - 8/10 11. Whole Love - 8/10 12. One Sunday Morning - 10/10 so i guess the album gets a a B from me, which is quite good!
  15. if you start farting around with this and clicking randomly you too can create radiohead hits! http://lab.andre-michelle.com/tonematrix
  16. weren't you agreeing with the guy you quoted about the second halves of both albums having weak points?
  17. Personally, I don't care much for Radiohead (i know that's not a popular opinion) I do however love Wilco, mainly I think because I'm drawn into songs often by lyrics. Great lyrics can make simple songs really stand out, but great music can't make up for weak lyrics in my mind. That said, while musically radiohead is fantastic, there's nothing about their lyrics that stand out to me.
  18. Out of curiosity, which of these do you feel fall flat? Wishful Thinking Company in my Back I'm a Wheel Theologians Less Than You Think Late Greats and then again on this Please be Patient With Me Hate it Here Leave me Like You Found Me Walken What Ligh On and On I like both a ghost is born and sky blue sky, but to compare the second halves of the albums like that seems....well, just wrong
  19. I think Wilco the album will get better with age. It's like after people's disappointment with SBS everyone wanted wilco to hit a grand slam with the next one, and it just didn't happen. It's a very good album in my opinion. Falls short of wilco standards maybe, but still it's a chapter in a book that isn't finished yet, so when all is said and done who knows how important of a chapter it will be
  20. If I had to rank the tracks it would look like this Art of Almost 10/10 I Might 7/10 Sunloathe 7/10 Dawned on Me 8/10 Black Moon 8/10 Born Alone 9/10 Open Mind 7/10 Capital City 8/10 Standing O 8/10 Red Rising Lung 7/10 Whole Love 9/10 One Sunday Morning 10/10 I don't really see a lull anywhere, just cause some songs are faster than others doesn't mean it is a lull.
  21. in this video from 2006 it's clearly all nels, and in the second video from last week it's the same way. maybe i'm not understanding the question http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkV74Yz7CBU
  22. as far as i know, even on the record it's always been a nels solo. I mean jeff and pat are playing the same lines, in different octaves i believe, but it's always just nels floating underneath them with his guitar solo,

    Capitol City

I like the song a lot, kind of reminds me of broken arrow to a certain extent. Both songs create a scene through the lyrics and they both have little breaks in them, and they both kind of have that jazzy sounding section in them. obviously it's much more upbeat than broken arrow, but i was immediately reminded of it when I heard capitol city for the first time
  24. But I thought that everyone's argument in favor of scalpers was that you didn't have to wait till the last minute to find tickets and it's ore convenient. But now you're saying you have to wait until the show gets closer, then hope the tickets you want get a little cheaper and don't get sold?
