The person basically has crapty analysis of the facts he uses. His facts are fine (he basically steals from Greg Kot's book, which I do like, because he footnotes Kot's book lots of times). In addition, he goes to an extreme of saying how bad things are. For example, the break up of Bennet and Tweedy.

Well tonight I listened to March 16-20 1992, The Basement Tapes, and John Coltrane's "Instellar Space." So from 12 a.m. to about 3 a.m. it has been a good Sunday so far.

I still think they were just ripping of the Pixies, which is similar to every other alternative or indie band. As Steven Colbert mentioned about The Decemberists, they are just like every other indie band, they are just ripping off of The Pixes.

But the guitar solo is still amazing.

Live he plays "Poor Places" in normal tuning with the capo on the third fret. It is the same way Jay Bennet plays it in the documentary.

I love it when a band does not play the same verison on the record twice. It is almost like they are playing with no emotion because they are just going note for note. In addition, while I love Pink Floyd, I am not a huge fan of them live because David Gilmour always plays the same notes (which are amazing on record), but boring after hearing them live. What I always love about Nels Cline's playing is that he always improvises on his solos. For example, he never plays the same verison at the coda of Muzzle of Bees or when he plays "Ashes of American Flags" or any other song.

You mean Jay Farrar is doing something else than Alternative-country, though he is good at it. But I am glad he is changing it up.

I read on Pitchfork that Nickel Creek broke up.

I posted about it being released in Nov. and some people commented on it. But I have not bought it yet, and no one else has mentioned anything.

I think your right on the more upbeat musical and lyrical tunes. But on the darker side of Summerteeth (Via Chicago, A Shot In The Arm, How To Fight...), sound much better nowadays. Plus, I think Cline's coda solo on "In A Future Age" just cultivates the song into the atmosphere.

I am new when it comes to transfering music files over to my computer. How do I get this to play because I am having trouble.

I love it a lot. I think it shows the huge change the band took when adding Cline and Sansone since a lot of their back catalog sounds different and better live. For instance, "A Shot In The Arm" sounds so much on KT then compared to some bootlegs I have from 1999.

I actually have not bought any of his work with Sonic Youth (I have all of their albums pre-Goo and I have Goo), but I have heard good critical acclaim for his work as a band member with them on Sonic Nurse and Murray Street.

I wish I did. I have been dying to see the man in concert, but I do not think he does many shows. Do have any of his other albums. Insignificance is my second favorite, but Bad Timing is my first. Ever since I got it, it exploded my mind.

Okay, so about a year ago, I ordered O'Rourke's "Bad Timing" from Amazon and ever since his music has grown on me the way Wilco has meaning: anyone he has put it out I try to get. Out of his solo albums I have gotten "Eureka," "Halfway To A Threeway EP," and "Insignificance". I also of course have the Loose Fur CDs, and I have two of his albums with Gastr Del Sol "Camoufleur" and "Upgrade and Afterlife". But I still have a lot more to collect. So in short, I was wondering if anyone else likes anyone of O'Rourke's discography. Out of everything I read with him, usually people like him or hat

While the internet has created wonderful advantages for artists to display their talents for free, that video "Cold As Hell" shows some of the disadvantages of the internet, anyone can create crapty irrelevant gangasta rap.

I'll second that. But since the hall of fame does exist, mine as well comment on its worthlessness. While I was wrong about Sabbeth not being in the hall of fame (forgot to check my facts), who should really be in the hall of fame are The Stooges. Seriously, The Stooges are a huge influential band. For example, they influenced the mid 70's punk movement, the underground 80's, and Kurt Cobain called "Raw Power" one of his favorite albums. Compared to The Stooges, Van Halen, which has left nothing but horrible over-the-top music, does not even deserve to be in the hall of fame.

I am searching for a cheap recording gear either digital or analog that is $ 400 or less. Does anyone have any recommndations?

I'll second that. Hopefully the new album is out in April, I am pretty happy to hear Jim O'Rourke mixed it. I just love the guy's work as a producer, mixer, solo artist, and all the bands and projects he has been in.

I think the biggest rip off is Black Sabbeth has still not gotten in. Yet the "hall of fame," inductes Van Halen, which they should be labeled as the band that defines for what was wrong with 80's mainstream music got in. At least the fame got their inductess somewhat right by including R.E.M. and Patti Smith.
