I ended up going down to Jazz Fest with a sax player from my college, and in reality I should not have gone (however; not because of the music) because most of the time I ended up just hanging out with the sax player's friends. I guess that's fine, but I had never met most of them before and I would've wanted to see most music but I only got to catch the acts at the main stage Saturday night, and to acts Sunday. I mainly wanted to see Rollins and Coleman because I am sure they don't have too much time left, but the guy I was with wanted to leave early Sunday to get back since it's about a 3

I am heading into Chicago late tonight, and will be there Saturday. I might also be staying there Sunday to see Coleman. I wish I could see Isotope 217 and the guitar summit, but I will be unable too. I'll call you Saturday to see if you want to meet up at some time.

Has anyone heard of Anthony Moore? He's been a band member of Slapp Happy and Henry Cow I heard a song off of one of his solo albums (I believe it was "Pieces from the Cloudland Ballroom") it was a very minimalist piece and fantastic! I believe most of his early solo work would be defined as minimalism and is worth a listen. Also for a good read, I just started reading a book called "Experimental Music: Cage and Beyond" by Michael Nyman and I believe the book had a influence on such minimalists as Reich and Glass.

Yeah, I haven't heard any of his stuff with SY either. But I am huge fan of Bad Timing. Moreover, I am getting more into his earlier work, which is really pretty good. Also, has anyone heard of a live disc called "In Bern" that he O'Rourke did with Lorne MazzaCane Connors. I got a few months ago, and I think it is just fantastic.

I had a pretty good weekend. It was nice talking to LouieB a couple times at the record place. Sunday seemed less crowded, but it was hot out. King Khan was great, but I do have to agree that his act would have been better suited for club rather than at a festival mid-afternoon. M. Ward was good too, and I heard Dino Jr. while I was waiting for Spoon and they sounded good too. I also thought Spoon was pretty solid. So I think Caribou and King Khan were the big highlights for me this weekend, and all in all it was a good weekend. I am just tired now.

Yeah, I went today (as in Day 2 of Pitchfork) and it was a pretty good day. I saw: Titus Andronicus-They were a big punk band with lots of guitars. They were pretty good. A Hawk and a Hacksaw-Only stayed for several minutes and then left because I didn't really dig it that much. Caribou-They were my favorite act for the day. I had heard a lot of hype at college that I would really like these guys, and they ended being stellar. I think The Byrds do a great job with "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere." Plus, the twelve-string sound of Roger Mcguinn's guitar on "Mr. Tamborine Man" was revolutionary.

I've heard good things about "Piano Reflections" and I am most likely going to buy it hopefully this summer.

I don't think it (Glenn's piece Anomaly) has been released at all (to my knowledge). But I do know that Glenn and Kronos Quartet are performing it at the Ravinia Fest in Highland Park, IL on Sept 3, 2008. I wish I could go, but I'll be in door county.
