I just found this out on Last.fm, when it showed up on the page for the Duluth show. I can't wait, he's terrific. I love "Dressed Up For the Letdown", in particular "Buildings in America" - definitely one of my favorite songs of the year. Great news!

Anodyne is number one for me by a wide margin, it's easily one of my top five favorite albums ever. To me, it's a break-up album about a band, and it's fantastic all the way through. I'd probably go in this order: Anodyne No Depression March Still Feel Gone (Though I think "Gun" is the moment, in retrospect, where it becomes painfully obvious that Jeff Tweedy is about to become a force)

I admire The National. There aren't many bands that have an immediate impact on me the first time I hear them. The National did when I first heard them about a year ago. Just a fantastic band, with four excellent albums, and one of the rare bands that improves as it goes on.

I am anticipating the return of "Red-Eyed and Blue" > "I Got You". I am so hoping for it in Duluth. "Outtasite" would be awesome, too. "Being There" is being phased out for the most part, but that's OK, I guess.

They're horribly miscast opening for Wilco. I think they're a really good band, but it just doesn't mesh very well. I really thought that more people had heard them and liked them before the Davenport show, and I honestly was surprised when 2/3 of the theatre was empty during their set. That was kind of a bummer. The beauty of their music lies in the fact that it is subtle and sparse, and the lyrics are quite dark. I think they're really good, and I got tickets to the Duluth show today in hopes that they will open in their hometown and get an appreciative audience and longer set. To e

I really like the little bit about Low at the end. Hopefully they get a little more respect on the rest of the tour than they got that night, though.

OEND was a "grower" for me (I didn't really start to love it until April of this year, at which point I listened to it for about two weeks straight) so I would expect this to seep into my head in a similar fashion. I had heard quite a few of these tracks on a live show earlier this year, though. I really like "Pagan Angel and a Borrowed Car" and "Lovesong of the Buzzard". Sam Beam is pretty terrific, whispering and all. Even though I do miss the lo-fi sound, it wasn't perfect for him like it is/was for Will Oldham. He seems to be following the same career path and Bonnie, though, beard a

The pig lost it because all there is at this point (to my knowledge, anyhow) is the 128 KBps rip that's been around for a week or so. I've only listened to it once so far, but I liked it.

Were you down on the right side of the floor (section D area?). If so, I thought I saw someone let out a puff of smoke down there. I would say a camera is the less problematic offense.

The other night in Davenport, there were very obvious signs that said "No Cameras". I just put it in my pocket. Then when I saw that all the ushers were little old ladies, I knew I wasn't going to have any problems at all.

My friends and I made a 5+ hour drive from central WI. The friend who drove actually came from St. Paul, MN and drove all the way down and back last night, finally dropping me off at my house at around 5:00 AM today. Pretty much very well worth it, though. I very briefly met Donna after the show, but that's about it as far as I know. Here's some of the pics I took last night, I was in Section C, Row F, Seat 12: http://www.flickr.com/photos/9001946@N08/s...57600360982344/ There's quite a few there, sorry to make people wade through them, but I'm too tired to make individual links for m

Sunken Treasure, without a doubt. Amazing.

OK, so the Ticketmaster site for the show says cameras aren't allowed, but the band's policy says that it's cool (without the flash, of course). So what's the deal? Do I need to worry, or just bring it in open, or put it in my pocket? Maybe print off the policy from wilcoworld? Contact the HQ?

The Bon is one that is definitely on my must-see list. I love so much of his stuff, be it as one of the Palace incarnations or under the BPB name. Great stuff. There is a lack of bards today, but he's he best of the lot.

Well, that would be pretty unreal. Not so sure I could even get the nerve to chat. I am very, very excited. I am also hoping to go to the Duluth show, too, unless a Wisconsin date pops up. I could have seen them last year at Summerfest, but I wasn't digging the idea of an outdoor show with people there who weren't all really big fans.

Alright, I'll be on the lookout for any furrowed brows aimed in my direction. Maybe not the best thread to ask this in, but will I be able to take some pictures of the band here and there? How does that usually work? It's my first time seeing what is my favorite band, so I really want to take some pictures.

I'll be in either the 4th or 6th row (I'm not sure about sections and whatnot, I don't have the tickets in my possession). We have 6 people in our party, 4 in the 4th row and 2 in the 6th, don't think any of them post here, though (and I barely do). I'll be rocking the red Arrow t-shirt from the SBS pre-order, some jeans, and some Chuck Taylor's. I have photographic evidence of my existence at my Last.fm profile: http://www.last.fm/user/brettac1/ Looking forward to a chance encounter with someone who recognizes me.

Drums and Guns is all I've heard, whilst preparing for the Davenport show a little bit. I think it's a pretty decent album. It was much more melodic than I thought they would be after hearing things word of mouth and reading up on them a little bit. Definitely looking forward to their set, one of my friends that I'm going with is a pretty big fan of theirs.

I listened to this (the VO version that leaked at OiNK last night) 5 times at least today. It's probably my favorite thing he's done as a solo artist, or certainly on par with Heartbreaker or Cold Roses. "Everybody Knows" and "The Sun Also Sets" are among the best things he's ever written to my ears - "there it is" part of "The Sun Also Sets", especially. I got chills when I heard it for the first time on the Kingston tape a few weeks ago.

I think Halloween Head is about him contemplating relapse. Plus, the "Guitar solo!" part reminds me of Skyler from Timmy & The Lords of the Underworld shouting out "bridge!" during the middle of a song. I think it's a pretty great tune, but I think pretty much everything Ryan does is a pretty great tune.

Where is SBS this week on the Billboard charts?
brettac1 replied to unposed_question's topic in Just A Fan
That is really awesome, staying in the top 25 for three weeks is pretty long-sustained success for them. -
No doubt. I am all over that. It's a five hour drive, and I can't wait for it.

Who's the coolest woman in music history?
brettac1 replied to the letter k's topic in Someone Else's Song
Patti Smith is pretty much a no-brainer for me. I mean, she's almost as cool as Lou Reed - and that is saying something. Kudos to whoever mentioned Sleater-Kinney. I am totally in love with Carrie Brownstein, even though she doesn't go my way. Neko Case, rules, too. I think Shara Worden just oozes coolness, especially when you see her live. -
Yeah, I think the "there's only two of them" thing is kind of off-base. I love Jack White and I dig Brendan Benson, but I thought that the Raconteurs album kind of sucked. The simplicity is what is so great about the Stripes, for me, at least. I think this album is great, though I hope the actual version sounds better than the one I got from Oink. That one kind of sounds like crap, way too much bass.

Hmm... maybe I won't grab it, then. All the Germany shows sound good, though, right?
