Am I reading this right? A Nirvana fan saying that The Replacements have been artificially hyped into a larger than life legend?

Johnny Marr worked with them on the album and is now an official, full-fledged member of Modest Mouse. -

I can't wait for The Hold Steady's new album. Between that and the Decemberists, I may have to take Oct. 3 off. -
All Systems Red is incredible. And thanks Wendy for the link!

(((Blood On The Tracks))) the breakup thread
Eli Cash replied to Jaymie's topic in Someone Else's Song
There's a lot of great break-up/troubled love songs on Bruce Springsteen's "Tunnel of Love." Especially "Brilliant Disguise" and "One Step Up." FANTASTIC breakup songs. "It's the same thing night on night Who's wrong baby who's right Another fight and I slam the door on Another battle in our dirty little war When I look at myself I don't see The man I wanted to be Somewhere along the line I slipped off track I'm caught movin' one step up and two steps back" -
Beat me to it. Beat me to it.

Who says you can't like Seger?

I really liked their latest album (It's Never Been Like That) at first, but it wore out quickly on me. It sounds a bit samey.

No, you posted a full paragraph of wild speculation, then ended it by saying you have no idea what actually happened. I think that's what Lazy was talking about.

I can talk Jive! I can talk Jive like you never heard!

I was wondering if anyone has any idea where I could find the acoustic version of IATTBYH that plays during the opening of the movie. I was disappointed to find out that it's not on the 2-disc DVD. I realize this probably isn't the best place to post this, but I posted it a few days ago in the request forum, and have yet to receive a response. I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks.

Well, I'm with you. I love Picaresque. On the Bus Mall is epic.

I was really [sarcasm]shocked[/sarcasm] when very critical of Lollapalooza, just a week after their music festival.

Actually, I love pitchfork for the news (though the articles are usually annoying, just get to the fucking point!) and I do read the reviews. Sometimes I agree, sometimes I disagree and it makes me madder than hell, but I'm definitely glad the site exists. But I understand why people hate it. Sure the new I'm From Barcelona song is a catchy little pop tune, but when they give that single a 5 star review (which they rarely give), I can TOTALLY see why people think the pitchfork folks are pretentious little indie snobs.

Pitchfork's 200 greatest songs of the 1960s
Eli Cash replied to Jaymie's topic in Someone Else's Song
Amen. -
And you wonder why so many people hate pitchfork.

What portion of your musical collection features rap?
Eli Cash replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
I'd say about 30-40% of my collection is rap. I listened to a ton of it in high school (mid to late 90s). Mostly 2Pac, Biggie and the Bad Boy crew, PE, A Tribe Called Quest, Ghostface, the whole early 90s LA scene, Nas, and a lot of old school compilations. -
Has anyone used indietorrent? If so, how does it compare to oink?
-
-
I would like to think I'm the one you didn't waste the invite on. My oink account is up and running!

That would be The Hold Steady. Seriously, though, Tapes 'n Tapes is pretty good. Seems like the backlash is hitting pretty hard.
