  1. Nothing !! I helped with some of the vids that I posted links to, that's it. See above! Again, wish I knew where the solo Will ones are because those are really good. Maybe GloNo?? LouieB
  2. I guess. That sounds right. While I have a rough cut i never watched it because John was not really happy with the way it was filmed. I would recommend checking out the solo and band sessions Whiskey Bender has out there though. (See above, if you can't find it PM me.) Both the band material with some interviews and particularly the solo sessions done in a studio are quite good. When we did the solo sessions Will as late so we spent an enmormous amout of time perfecting the shots before he got there and he ran through them in short order. I have not watched them in awhile, but I liked
  3. This is true... LouieB You will not be able to stay home, brother. You will not be able to plug in, turn on and cop out. You will not be able to lose yourself on skag and skip, Skip out for beer during commercials, Because the revolution will not be televised. The revolution will not be televised. The revolution will not be brought to you by Xerox In 4 parts without commercial interruptions. The revolution will not show you pictures of Nixon blowing a bugle and leading a charge by John Mitchell, General Abrams and Spiro Agnew to eat hog maws confiscated from a Harlem sanctuary. The rev
  4. You know it is weird. I heard "the Revolution will not be televised" on the radio today and was struck (despite what a great song ite is) by how wrong this has turned out to be. Actually any revolution would be televised. Media is so ubiquitous what with youtube and all. But as a song it never fails to get a laugh from me when when he starts dropping names. many of which are now historical figures rather than part of current events. Life moves on. LouieB
  5. Very sad news, but inevitable I guess. The article in the New Yorker a year or so ago was heartbreaking. He made some great records in his day though. Only one year older than me. Crazy!!! LouieB Thanks for hooking this up. It is a really well written piece and very illuminating. LouieB
  6. A video shot by someone else, but in the process of being edited by John Boston was recently scrapped. John was not happy with the actual footage, but had worked hard on editing into something decent, but I guess they gave up the ghost on this one. LouieB
  7. Happy Birthday Bob!! Seems like only yesterday we were both young. LouieB
  8. Graduation Day was a huge hit for them and clearly influenced Brian. As Aman said it was the harmonies. Check out any one of their songs and I think you will get the idea. LouieB
  9. Best use of the world flume in a song that year though. (Flume at least is a real word.) LouieB
  10. I wish I had never read the words. Can someone post a link where one of the songs is still available? I went to a couple sites and could not find an actual file. LouieB
  11. We could take this to the jazz thread, but it is worth talking about anyway. You are correct that you should not have to buy the Mosaic if all you want are a few of the original configurations of the Blue Note albums. Mosaic is really not what you want and it is too bad. I catch your drift. But for the obsessive Sam Rivers (or whomever) Mosaic is a great label. The reason most of their material is released in limited numbers is because only a limited number of fans what all that stuff. So I agree with you in principle, but really it is the fault of BN for not keeping all their origina
  12. This is intersting. From the Chicago Trib this AM. LouieB Bob Flanigan dies at 84; founding member of the Four Freshmen The group had a jazz-rooted vocal style and influenced the Beach Boys, the Lettermen, Manhattan Transfer and other vocal acts. By Randy Lewis, Los Angeles Times May 17, 2011 Bob Flanigan, a founding member and original lead singer of the innovative vocal group the Four Freshmen, whose elegantly intricate jazz-rooted singing was a profound influence on Beach Boys mastermind Brian Wilson as well as the Lettermen, the Manhattan Transfer and numerous other vocal acts, di

  16. That must have been fun!!! More details!!! LouieB
  17. Wasn't he just on one song? I doubt he was ever even in the studio with Kanye. LouieB
  18. It only took 129 days to record St. Pepper. LouieB
  19. Time flies when you are having fun. Taking three years to make a second album, it better be good. Recording artists used to put out two albums a years back in the old days. LouieB
  20. I bought "Don't Tell a Soul" when it was cut out and there were hundreds of copies floating around. I think I probably payed 3 bucks for it. The never version is probably what? $20?? I thought there would be Tommy Stinson tour talk here. He is playing Milwaukee, Minneapolis and Chicago later this month. LouieB
  21. My older sister turned me on to folk music (way back in the early 60s) and I turned her onto jazz (in the 70s.). LouieB
  22. Yes, but not so much in recent years. He does occasionally go hear music or go shopping. Don't hold your breath on this though. No stalking please!!! You are more likely to see other band mambers at shows where others are playing. LouieB
  23. You ain't the only one. I do this all the time. LouieB
