Looks like Steve Jobs has passed...

And Fred Shuttlesworth. it was a big day for obits in the paper this morning. LouieB -
There was a time not so long ago when there was only one format to buy music in, either LP (prior to the 1980s) and CD (after the major labels discontinued LPs in the 1980s.) You remember those days of yor. Now you can buy an album three different ways. So I bought two copies on opening night of the release (LP and deluxe CD), which I am guessing a significant number of folks here did also. (The band can send us a thank you letter any time...) That probably skews the figures a bit too. We are talking 10s of thousands of albums not hundreds, so this will inflate the numbers a few percent

It is cold in New England, but the wind coming off the lake or down off the plains is something to behold. Early December shouldn't be that bad. Come visit Chicago without a Wilco show sometime in the fall or spring. It's fun. LouieB

It won't be as cold as it was during the residency. Come on in. The neighborhoods are still there and the tours are still up and running. LouieB

Wow, crazy. More places that will sell out immediately. LouieB

Sad news to be sure. LouieB

Or you can trade someone for a ticket at the Opera House where there are all seats (and a nicer venue.) LouieB

Yes, there are seats in the balcony. Depending on how close to the front you want to be you can probably get one without waiting all day. LouieB

I just drove past the Rock Hall yesterday. Didn't stop in though. LouieB

From the Cleveland Scene - The first negative review I have seen. LouieB You can't really trust this supposed return to form from a band that has gotten a free pass for the past decade. Even though the cacophonous "Art of Almost" holds its own for a seven-minute opener — dig that thrashing Frippertronic ending — the organ-fronted "I Might," swaggering "Standing O," and sleazily lovely "Open Mind" could be considered hooky if only you could remember them in the morning. Unfortunately, the snoozy "One Sunday Morning (Song for Jane Smiley's Boyfriend)" is longer than all three put together. T

Yes they are. I got shut out too and was trying like made for twenty minutes. Its just the way it goes sometimes. Luckily I have friends. I suspect that for Chicago another show will be added, but I could be wrong. Oh and since folks travel to see Wilco, lots of non-Chicagoans got tickets I am sure and also plenty of scalpers. LouieB

they just felt like it I guess. LouieB

Has it only be 20 years? It seems a million years ago in some ways. LouieB

Decimal points are stupid. What is this the Dewey Decimal System? (Good name for a band though...if your name is Dewey.) LouieB

I dont currently know anything about Joanne Greenbaum but will check her out. LouieB

From Wilco chronicaler Greg Kot today in the Trib. LouieB After seven studio albums, capped by the summing-up statement “Wilco (The Album)” in 2009, the Chicago band seemed to be out of surprises. The music had soul and low-key integrity, but had turned predictable. So it’s gratifying to find that assumption shattered from the get-go on “The Whole Love,” the sextet's first album for its homemade label, dBpm. The first sound on the album is the crackle of static over a fragmented beat. Keyboards shudder into the mix, and Tweedy sings from the middle of a parched landscape of strange sound

Nick Lowes albums, particularly the early ones, including Rockpile are easy to find at used record stores and well worth getting. None are expensive and all of them enjoyable. LouieB

This gatefold is kinda ugly. What happened to the understated Wilco cover art? LouieB

Nope. LouieB

Bummer. Rehab could be any number or things. LouieB -
Hey, buy a copy and find out all this info. Not sure why a picture is necessary but once I get one I will take it just for the fun of it. LouieB
