Thre are too many labor songs to mention really. Back in the day labor songs were quite the cottage industry, but for some of the best more contemporary (although from a singer already dead) check out Utah Phillips work. Sy Kahn is good too and still alive. The Almanac Singers, etc. Lots of great stuff out there, but mostly from another era. (Plenty Tough by the Waco Brothers of course.) LouieB

Reading through the list of gigs Jimi did supports my post about musicians not getting around quite as much in the past as they do now. Wilco performs about as often in one year as Jimi did in his entire career. LouieB

Sad news....it sucks getting old... LouieB

Or worse yet, they haven't resorted to doing an album of standards, although actually I would love a Wilco covers album.... LouieB

Yea, I guess it won't be Ryan.... What did Exene say? Is it on the website? LouieB

Its okay!! LouieB

First off - Graham Parker is worth seeing in and of himself. Where does Ryan Adams live? (I have absolutely no idea who the special guest is and I didn't ask the Bloodshot folks to find out either.) If I were him I would show show up...he certainly owes Bloodshot. LouieB

Thanks. If it is not possible to hold it I will get the next batch, assuming there is another. I can't get in until sometime next week so don't hold it if there are fans dying to get it and more are on the way. LouieB

RIP Teddy....one of the last of the great liberals. No matter what his flaws, the guy had a hell of a life and a great legacy. He will be sorely missed. Perhaps his memory will get those Democrats with less courage to finally stand up on their hind legs and pass some healt care legislation which will once and for all cover all Americans. By coincodence I will be in Boston on Saturday, but not at his funeral. But close enough..... LouieB

Apropos of nothing....In My Life is a great great song, but I believe it was mostly written by John. LouieB

Happy Birthday Jeff!! LouieB

That might be possible... Really...others have posted music here and asked for suggestions. That does not mean he doesn't occasionally get on here and read stuff though. I sure am glad he doesn't argue, that might get scary. This thread is scary enough just as it is. LouieB

Now I remember why I was an independent all those years.

Moving from the largest state to the smallest? Sounds like a rumor. LouieB -
The back story on this tape may be better than the actual tape, if this is an audience tape by a real bootlegger. Tapes that are of good quality should be archival and last for a long time, but of course this doesn't always happen. It is amazing what surfaces on tape and how good the quality is. Hopefully this one will turn out to be kick ass. LouieB

Since I am the one guy on here who sort of remembers cassettes coming out, I didn't think this was possible either, but as it turns out the first cassette came out in 1962 (if the web is to be believed.) So I would say that by late in Jimi's career someone would have had a recorder. This is very cool. It is probably an audience kind of thing. Dave Alvin recently wrote (or at least recorded) a song about seeing Jimi was a boy. I don't know if that is true or not (he is about 6 years younger than me) and the song isn't one of his best, but it is kinda cool to think about. Needless to say I w

Somehow I don't think this will spoil it for me...but I loved the little app you used. LouieB
