  1. Yea, that was a fun show. I would agree that this live album is a good place to start, since they are a strong live band and the album is sort of a greatest hits collection (with a few non-hits thrown in.) If one needs a non-live album, Cowboy in Flames is a good place to start. I sort of agree that the Arizona album by the Felices is a bit stronger than their new one, but both are very similar. I think the new one has less variation, but frankly have only listened to both once, so what do I know. Actually the fact that these guys are so much like the Band is sort of funny in a way. They
  2. If you like these guys you will not be disappointed. LouieB
  3. These three artists are mushed together in one thread simply because they all have new albums out and I have seen all three in the last week. I figure we rarely talk about alt.country type acts anymore and all would be enjoyable for folks liking roots rock type material. The Waco Brothers released Waco Express, Alive and Kicking at Schuba
  4. Bob Mould has a significantly high coolness factor in my book..... LouieB
  5. Happy Birthday!!! I remember turning 30....just barely.... LouieB
  6. I have the Fugs LPs.... I also have the box set of the complete sessions of Charlie Parker in Dial that was released on Warner Brothers a few decades ago. It may not be worth all that much (I paid the exhorbitant price of $100 at the time), but it is pretty cool none the less. LouieB
  7. This kind of story always reminds me that the Pulitzer Prize was denied to Duke Ellington....thank goodness those days are over.... LoiueB
  8. Actually near mint is $100 down to $25 for very good. LouieB
  9. Yea, not kidding.......after rehabing my turntable that does have 78 I should really go back and listen to this again. I have not in some years or maybe ever..not sure. LouieB
  10. I would think so. Is it the LP or 45? (I can look it up...label, color, date, etc.) LouieB
  11. Yea, people actually HAD turntables that switched to 78 back then (I still have one actually) so you could listen to it at that speed. I found a copy of that once... LouieB
  12. Nope, don't recall getting one with the album sadly. LouieB
  13. sounds right....apparently this is out of print, but available from dealers on CD and cassette for either $50 or around $20 (cassette). LouieB Suzy Creamcheese....what's got into you???
  14. Yea, it may still be on CD....it is the vinyl that is worth the dough.....although the actual musical material is worth ...not so much. I mean it is funny to hear the Plastercasters sing, but other than that.... LouieB
  15. I have a copy of that as well. We used to listen to it in college...it is a room clear for sure....frankly (pun only half intended) I have not listened to my copy which I found for no money at a garage sale or something many years ago. Most of it is pretty out there and stupid. (He was the Daniel Johnston of his day...) The album that IS worth lots of money is from the same era of Frank Zappa production...the GTOs, which goes for tons of money. I don't have a copy, but I have a friend who does. It also isn't all that exciting except as a nostalgia peice, but it is rather rare. As far as th
  16. In addition to Tiny Voices, Civilians is excellent, as is Scar and Trampoline. Hell everything by him is good, although the earlier stuff is more folk/country oriented and the later stuff is more jazz oriented. LouieB
  17. Not all that rare no....but pretty damn cool none the less. The thing about the Stones albums such as Some Girls and Sticky Fingers and even Satanic Majesties Request is that they were a very popular group and therefore sold alot of these albums before the run was over. LouieB
  18. Bruce and I are virtually the same age....all power to the Boss.... LouieB
  19. Meanwhile the Rolling Stones have a movie out made with Martin Scorsese... LouieB
  20. I think all old bands are cool...unless they have gotten lame (literally and figuratively.) Although when I saw Dave Thomas of Pere Ubu and Rocket from the Tombs a few years ago he walked with a cane and was still cool. LouieB
  21. I had no idea most of the band was from IL.... Very cool. LouieB
  22. Sure was nice to see everyone..........good times..sorry I pooped out so early..(12:30) Morgan...thanks for hosting... LouieB
  23. Aren't these guys about as old the Rolling Stones?? LouieB
  24. I'll admit to Neil Young burnout.... LouieB
