See Two Cow Garage...definitely cow punk to me.... LouieB

I think Robbie is fine with that label. LouieB

Beltman and I have talked about all this many times before. Art and commerce are completely comingled nearly everywhere. Artisans and artists sell the products of their labor for money. They have to. A singer puts out his hat for change and moves on from there. Either that or he or she works a day job and plays for free. (BTW anyone seen the movie Once? Great movie...I have not seen it mentioned here yet..we need a thread on it.) LouieB

Uh yea....just not Wilco I guess...' I never thought THIS thread would last this long. LouieB

I keep trying to figure out who thought to play this thing first, Robbie or Dollar Store, they both cover it. LouieB

Wow, I have been out of the loop and missed alot. Incidently there are still tons of people, mostly older adults, who have never heard of Wilco. I am in Springfield at the moment and talked to any number of folks here (just up the road from Belleville and down the road from Chicago) who have no clue who this band is....then again alot of them probably don't know who the Smashing Pumpkins are either. They even took a hit in the Trib today..... I knew they were popular but I had not realized just how many records they had sold (only 5 actual releases) in their career. With that kind of a track record I suppose they are still a player, but it will get interesting to see how well this new album really does. LouieB

When Robbie is on, he is one of the most fun performers anywhere. His band is great and he is also great solo. I am sure some people don't like his jokey songs, but as a songwriter he is sort of old school, staking alot of the song on the actual words. LouieB

It is.....come on in... LouieB

Are we really back to this....? Oldest VCer here.... LouieB

One more bump....first round on me... LouieB

Well certainly it would be nice if employers were human beings and cared about babies and medical conditions. That goes without saying. But none of those things seem to matter if the bosses are jerks and decide to act on their rights as management. I have had some moderately serious medical problems over the past few years that required some hospitalizations and my direct supervisor never even acknowledged I was out, much less tired to lessen the stress associated with my job. I just recently moved to a new department and many of my symptoms have decreased to a great degree. I even asked m

Yea, he was the retarded guy on LA Law or something...I didn't see the movie but clearly Liam Neeson got too big to play this kind of a character again. LouieB

I am not a labor law expert, but unless someone is in a union they have very little protection unless they are disabled. In that case the American's with Disabilities Act kicks in. Since he was not already working he can't make a claim that he is being discriminated against because of a disability (diseases are not always that easy to prove are disabilities either.) Meanwhile a 6 week old child has nothing to do with anything. The US of A is not a very labor friendly country, but I would think everyone would know that by now. Most people are employed at will and unless they can prove t

I hate to say this..but this makes no sense....how do commercials make Wilco the greatest rock band in the history of music? We all agree Wilco is a great band no matter when we got into them. I just don't understand how commercial exposure enables them to become as great as the Beatles. I don't even necessarily agree that more people will find out about Wilco through these VW commericials; it isn't like they announce who singing or anything. LouieB

I believe there was a Darkman 2, but it was straight to video and I bet it sucked..... LouieB

If not it should be.... LouieB

He had too small a part..... (But then again it was bigger than the cameo he had in Darkman....still one of my favorite movies...) LouieB

Sadly my kids are no longer kids and despite being a big Bloodshot fan, I can't quite justify buying this one. The other Bloodshot kids album is The Bottle Let Me Down, which is also good. One of the first shows I dragged Rosie to was a Bloodshot kids show at the Empty Bottle of all places. It was a very fun scene (actually they held two there about a year apart), but if you know the Bottle it is a typical rock joint, smelling of beer and cigarettes. The first one featured Moonshine Willie as I recall. I think Splitlip Rayfield was also on the bill. The second one had Kelly Hogan and Jo

I have all kinds of Dylan cover albums, so I would like this one in my collection. Rarely are they that good; sometimes have good moments. Hard Rain by Ferry is excellent on his older covers album. LouieB

I am interested in this, but not enough to buy it new...gonna wait for a used copy. LouieB

I know I am an obnoxious promoter of Chicago music, but this is one of the great music towns on earth, period. Tortoise and associated bands and various projects of all the musicians in them make marvelous music that is unparralled. Few towns are as lucky as we are. Another gig I will miss this weekend is the legendary Roscoe Mitchell playing with the AACM Great Black Music Ensemble at the Velvet Lounge on Saturday. LouieB

Isn't this part of the entire experience really? The two fake encores Wilco always does (usually) are most certainly planned. I have only seen one real encore in the last few years. Dave Alvin played Fitzgeralds and played one fake encore and then actually was called back for a real one because the crowd was so pumped up. I think the fake encore is expected. LouieB
