  1. Visiting Lowell is a cosmic experience. I did it a few years back. Great time. LouieB
  2. Yikes 40 years ago....I do remember what it was like 38 years ago.....damn that was a long time ago... LouieB
  3. It apparently isn't much of a contest sadly, since Fity usually way outsells Kayne. In any event this isn't about art, it is purely commerce....LouieB
  4. Ever>?? What the heck?? Sadly I am taking Rosie back to Carbondale, although I suspect if we were in town we would be at the fest with the Old 97s, Blue Mountain, Nora O'Connor and Chris Mills. LouieB
  5. They have played Chicago twice.....which is NOT in the deep south...(but an interesting demographic, a higher percentage of African Americans live in Cook County than anywhere else in the US or is it a great number...not sure.) Sadly we are missing both this fest and the one where Califone is playing. Once again Chicago is the greatest music town on the planet. LouieB
  6. Something like that.... Actually Dylan did a few other group breaking albums prior to Highway 61.... LouieB
  7. Kids are fine at Wilco shows. There is the occasional four letter word. Earplugs should be provided as necessary at any rock show for small kids, older ones already know the drill. LouieB
  8. Autumn in New York... New York State of Mind...Billy Joel. LouieB
  9. Strangely they are appearing at the Chicago Jazz Fest this year. I have been into jazz for many years.....been collecting jazz LPs for a long time.....come on over and we can spin a few... LouieB
  10. Small world huh? I think I won free tix to this show and took a couple other BR fans with me. Actually I saw the BR prior to seeing either Wilco or Son Volt and it was also a show that I will never forget (lost a bit of hearing at it.) It was about the time I was getting back into seeing rock in general and sure was fun. I would have to say that losing Tom Ray was a blow and then losing Tom Parr was also too bad, but Brian is a great guitarist and songwriter. The BR have been struggling in recent years, but at least have landed on Bloodshot and seem more consistant of late. LouieB
  11. Sad, although I had no idea he was still alive either...I remember the duets with Nancy Sinatra well...... LouieB
  12. wilconut...I think those days are over......long over..... LouieB
  13. Interesting that this and a White Castle thread are up at the same time.... LouieB
  14. Brian did a request from the audience for a song called "Party Boy" that is on none of the BR CDs as far as I can tell. I don't do the search for show/download thing, but if there is a copy of this show somewhere (it was at Schubas) I sure would like to know about it. LouieB
  15. Since I had the actual CD, I have nothing to compare it with. Eggs is now familiar, but there are songs on this new one that are excellent. LouieB
  16. White Castle is not a Chicago thing particularly (they are in many places in the midwest and perhaps other parts of the country) and they are totally disgusting, although I admit to having eaten them on occasion, always regretting it later. If you have to eat fast food in Chicago, at least eat a Chicago (Vienna Beef) hot dog which have some redeeming qualities unless you are a vegetarian. LouieB
  17. Strangely I had not listened to this until the other day (TG finally found her copy) and I enjoyed it very much. Andrew is way better than Sufjan in my opinion. LouieB
  18. I didn't know anything about the FRames until the move and got Set List and was not disappointed. Lots of short drop in covers which are fun. LouieB
  19. No, I did find a ticket, which I gave up to someone else who reallywanted to see it. As a way to thank all those outside the two of them came out during the opening set and did a two song busk for us. That in itself was pretty special and made not seeing the real show okay. There was a camera crew so maybe some day that short show on Lincoln Ave will make it into a DVD. The think that surprised me about seeing them in real life was that Marketa has lighter hair than I expected and she is not as short as I expected either. Also Glenn is not as tall. It is weird how movies make people loo
  20. I'm Always in Love.... LouieB
  21. They play Chicago rather frequently. Seen them many times. (But I always miss Tom Ray......he was great....) One of the best shows I ever saw was Brian Henneman do a solo show though..... LouieB
  22. I totally agree.......that would be super cool. I would buy that. LouieB
