Hey Jeff--- Happy Birthday!! LouieB

The live version on Mountain live kills as well. Theme from an Imaginary Western is one of my favorite songs of all time actually. LouieB
-
Yea they were a fun band.... LouieB

Cockroach and the Aragon do sort of go together... LouieB
-
I have always liked Mountain myself...particularly Nantucket Sleighride. LouieB
-
Yea, I think he has had the rights for some time......just not up to date on where this is at. LouieB
-
A couple?? I had no idea....actualy I like the single. Every time I hear it I think they are saying..."I don't care about the Aunschluss....." LouieB

If Crazy by Gnarls Barkley was the song of last summer, this was the song of this summer...it was everywhere..... Let's just hope these guys save their money...... LouieB

Got my spine I've got my Orange Crush.... LouieB

Yea, come over and join the other thread...we already have one going and could use some reinforcements, just like Mark could have used more fans for his two dates in Chicago.... LouieB

Jayhawks founder Mark Olson featured in new documentary
LouieB replied to Orkie's topic in Someone Else's Song
Me either, but maybe for different reasons. He was excellent. They had him too loud in the mix, but then turned him down a touch which worked better. The whole band was very good. Yea, it was a crazy small crowd, but enthusiastic enough that we got an encore. A few of us were standing up front, but hardly anyone moved in back of us, so most of the audience was in the seats and half way back on the floor. Nora O'Connor opened and was also excellent with Andy Hopkins (or is it Metcalf, I am such an idiot) on second guitar. She can sing anything and I dig it. Mark said he was coming back -
There was a time (long ago) when Dylan was considered for this movie and then Springsteen. 2009 huh? Should be interesting or not. This is one of those things that has been in and out of development for so long, I was sort of kidding. LouieB

Someone here was nice enough to give me a version of this. Frankly I like it better than the debut album that is still in print (which despite liking the Jayhawks I find kind irritating.) Incidently I saw Mark last night and he was excellent. Great little band with him, but a very small crowd at Schubas. LouieB -
Sales of drugs like Oxycontin jumped 90 percent from 1997-2005

Addiction to pain killers is not new.....Morphine addiction was rampant after WWII. LouieB -

See below.....pain killers are essential to people in pain. My sympathies. I have taken it Vicodin when I had both kidney and Crohns issues and it is a freakin miricle when you take it and are in pain. LouieB -
Double brilliant... He wasn't worth a dime in my book, but that's just me... LouieB

The article was okay, but the book that is reviewed sounds like crap. At least the original version of OTR has finally been released. (when is the movie coming out???) LouieB
-
Sorry I guess I double fucked up this thread...my bad (not that I care that much.) I should have said the "dylanesque version". LouieB

As someone who has taken a bit of Vicodin, I can assure you that when it is needed, nothing is better. But at a point you have to quit using it. My doctor the other day said that one in five people take anti-depressents. We are a drugged up society and that isn't going to change any time soon. LouieB -
Yea, I have not watched it yet. I like the song because it is so topical and midwest specific. There are leaflets for the casino and big billboards all over the metro east and St. Louis area. And the Dylan version kicks ass too. LouieB

Thunderclap Newman and McGuinnes Flint both covered it I believe. I am sure others can come up with one or two. (McGuinn maybe???) or not...see The Howard Fishman is a good one... LouieB

That's not the point and you know it..... This whole topic has been hashed over so often it is just downright boring. Casino Queen is what used to be called a novelty tune; a fun song that is not to be taken very seriously. It was turned into a Dylan send up for a few years also. Casino Queen is a real riverboat casino and that makes the song fun, but it isn't a masterpiece, it is just a wacky fun thing. LouieB

A bunch of us got to see Leroy the other night back up Marvin Tate; he looked like he was having a ball. It is inevitable that people will pine for the "good old days", no matter who was in the band at the time. Wilco has become a big name band afterall and things simply are not the same. LouieB

No offense anyone but are we down to THIS now?? LouieB
