Definitely. Unlike Nod to Bob, which is a pretty straight reading of his songs and came out at the same time, these guys sometimes go off a bit. Very fun. This is one of my favorite Dylan covers albums ever...I have a tee-shirt with the cover art on it that I enjoy wearing as well. LouieB

I can't believe they are having this show and not inviting Bob Dylan......someone should be fired..... And Woody didn't write the music for Mermaid Ave (obviously)......and just as obviously many many musicians have done Woody Guthrie songs that did have music attached. LouieB

It is on some free CD from some magazine. A bunch of good covers on that album actually (and some not so good as I recall.) I highly recommend the disk Duluth Does Dylan for some rather quirky covers by Duluth bands. Duluth Does Dylan Revisited isn't as good, but it isn't bad either. Nod to Bob is a decent album but this one is better and they came out about the same time. LouieB

To this day, fusion is like disco to people, a bastardization of music and an impure genre. Okay so maybe disco is a bad analogy. I saw Herbie Hancock a week or so ago with a friend who is a jazz pianist and Herbie played a bit of everything he has ever done and my friend was a bit put off. All these years later, people are still pissed off at .... (fill in the blank) for going electric. This is the same for fusion. All those musicians who created this type of music were once accoustic musicians that plugged in. People like Herbie and Wayne Shorter are fine to them when they play "real"

Glad this was posted. While he did record with Miles, (he also recorded extensively with Cannonball Adderly I believe), his work with Weather Report is the greatest part of his legacy. Some day when fusion is again considered important, he will get his due I suppose. LouieB

I did? Wow, I don't remember this at all. For awhile we were all backed up and mostly all I saw was tickets and wrists. Sorry about that. When things were backed up at the doors I began asking some of the folks coming in if they were there to see The Frames or Andrew Bird and most answered The Frames. In fact there were many folks there that clearly were somewhat older and Frames fans only. I was not surprised when many left before Bird, but there were still thousands there. This sounds like good advise also. Frankly this is a very complex situation that no amount of explaining on a music messageboard can possibly illuminate. Asking for support is one thing, asking for advise in a place that can't possibly deal with the nuances of a situation like this can only create more problems. Saw a few VCers and other Wilco related folks, but this event mirrored Pitchfork in demographics (not a bad thing...) and was mobbed on Saturday also. I worked the door for four hours and actually a large number of people seemed to have come for the first time simply to see the Frames. I didn't get an upclose look at anyone until the Frames who put on a great show, with their usual quoting of other songs among theirs (including a Wilco tribute). I was on a road trip on the east coast when Keith died. It seems like a lifetime ago. Warren seems like yesterday. The collection of Warren's demo's that came out last year is excellent by the way, with an extra disk that includes an interesting interview. Despite Warren being a kind of cranky guy he had very far ranging taste and was a very generous fan of other musicians. LouieB
