It does have a very nice melody, as most murder ballads do.....of course the Louvin Brothers are a bit more sweet than Nick Cave...... LouieB

I bought a super cheap copy of Von's The Improvisor on Amazon last week. Really good stuff and some was recorded at the New Apartment. LouieB

Hey Jeff...you think they will check TGs ID?? I think she will be fine. They have those HS kids playing music after midnight. LouieB

Gonna try this one more time. How about a mid-summer visit to the New Apartment Lounge to see Von Freeman. It looks like later in July will be good for me. Perhaps the 18th or 25th of July?? Anyone interested? LouieB

The weather certainly cooperated. It looked bad there for a bit.. LouieB

Chris Mills is great. The Wall to Wall Sessions is short wonderful album with a big band that to my mind beat the crap out of Illinoise. Chris will never get the recognition he should get, but he keeps going none the less. Sadly someday the guy will have to quit the music business and get a day job, because I can't imagine he can keep playing to no people and selling most of his albums himself at his shows. LouieB

I love the world cup, its just too bad they are playing soccer. Incidently has anyone said that the USofA stinks at this game??? LouieB

I got to hear a bit of one of the songs on a cell phone from TG in the backseat... And now a nice song about Knoxville, sure to make everyone's afternoon. LouieB The Knoxville Girl I met a little girl in Knoxville A town we all know well And every Sunday evening Out in her home I'd dwell We went to take an evening walk About a mile from town I picked a stick up off the ground And knocked that fair girl down; She fell down on her bended knees For mercy she did cry Oh, Willie dear, don't kill me here I'm unprepared to die She never spoke another word I only beat her more Until the grou

Well you have the fond memories of the music and the companionship of your music loving peers. And the tapers are a friendly bunch as well.... LouieB

I hate to say this (and i Hope the group doesn't read this either), but there were some better shows that WERE taped at Schubas that are floating around out there. I particularly enjoyed two, the first one and the one when Laurie and John headlined and were backed by the band. Both are available somewhere. LouieB

I love the Who, but if I hear one more fucking Who song in an ad, I am going Elvis on my TV I swear..... LouieB

I really don't know squat about this, but I do know the US of A is going nowhere.... (Lacrosse is getting more fans than soccer.) LouieB

This doing a song without a mic is really the shtick of the year isn't it? LouieB

I don't know about the other girls, but you had to have a dad like me who is willing to do this. Schubas used to be very loose about getting in, but now you have to arrange it before hand. Other venues are even easier (Fitzgeralds, The Abbey and the Hideout) others won't go for it even with a parent (Metro and Martyrs). Places that serve food shouldn't be a pain, but sometimes they are. LouieB

Gary is an excellent writer and this book has always been one I wanted to read. He is really one of the premier and certainly living jazz writers. Good stuff. I have read other books and articles by him. LouieB

One of their CDs was recommended to me, but I ran out of money, so I didn't get it. Somehow I don't need their albums either, but they were very good in person. I spent a bit of time talking to one of the guitarists. The new bass player is about 6 feet tall and very good. LouieB I was not sure if the song was about Jim Capaldi or by him. It was not something I recognized from the Traffic records, but who knows. They played a song by the Watersons, which was pretty cool though. The white suits were a nice touch as well. LouieB

Yea...that was fun..but the crowd was really noisy, more than usual I thought. The Court and Spark kicked ass. LouieB
