Yup, it was Bukowski's praise of Fante that made me read it and I loved it. Haven't read The Brotherhood..., I'll look into snagging a copy. Thanks for the tip!

Five books I really, really liked in no particular order. The Stranger - Albert Camus Marriage and Morals - Bertrand Russell Ham On Rye - Charles Bukowski Ask the Dust - John Fante The Road - Cormac McCarthy It's so hard for me to do a "Top" anything, especially with books...there are too many good ones and such a great variety out there that excite me.

There's a shot of them hanging with their records and assorted goodies (Jayne Mansfield hot water bottle, for one) in Re/Search (Along with epic interview.) I can scan the stuff if anyone is really interested.

There's that Eels "With Strings" album. Melora Creager does the cello rock thing.

That sucks. I was introduced to The Cramps by a slightly older dude I was madly in love with when I was about 14 or 15. They were amazing.

I think the "Summer in the Southeast" live album is a good starter. "I See a Darkness" and "The Letting Go" too. From what I've read, the upcoming "Beware" is going to be awesomely badass. If anyone sees/hears that it's leaked at some point, let me know and I'll be your best friend for the rest of our lives. I'm aching to hear it!

Woohoo! Power rocks! Couldn't you have been cleaning the underpants in the tub or something?

Still too many people without power in my town. I feel pretty lucky that we got ours back while as close as just a few houses down they are still without.

Some of my ice photos from this week! We had a city-wide blackout for a few days. It was crazy but power is back to most of the town now. I found this neato layer thing going on when I cleaned the ice of of my truck. Those trees used to be standing upright. Trucksicle! Llynnsicle on day one before it got really bad.

I dug it.

After the ice storm this week, I know that I can definitely live without electricity and everything that comes with it. I bet I would have been pissed if the blackout made me miss something like a new Doctor Who episode though.

Looks like I'm late to the party too but I don't mind leftover cake! Leftover cake is still cake and cake is always good! :birthday

I did get a little make-out action while watching The Spirit at the theater (it was just the two of us, who could resist the opportunity for some old school darkened theater groping!?)

I hate that when I burn cds for peeps, there's a good chance they aren't going to be listening to them on headphones. They don't know what they're missing! It's so nice to just sit down and listen to great music sometimes. Most people really just don't spend enough time sprawled out on the floor, staring at the ceiling, letting music penetrate their brains, I think.
