  1. I watched the Solaris remake last night. It was okay. George Clooney was crazy hawt in it, but I don't think I could enjoy it as anything other than a semi-interesting extension of the original. I'll stick with the Tarkovsky.
  2. This person has no idea what they are talking about. I don't give a crap about She & Him or Bon Iver.
  3. I really love from Waking Life. It's one of the things I think of when I think of ukulele.
  4. I think he was easily around 18 or so when he got thinner.

    LeRoy Bach

He's on the new Bonnie Prince too.
  6. I want one so I can do Basia Bulat covers.
  7. That one is good weird. Yo Gabba Gabba is the shit. I like it when Mothersbaugh gives drawing lessons. I think 85% of what I see on tv is kid stuff, this is not my choice...it just happens that way.
  8. Weirds me out... One day Josh is next thing ya know Okay, I'm going back to being a grown-up now. Just had to get that off my chest.
  9. It weirded me out the first time I saw one of the later episodes where Josh is thinner. And is it too pervy for me to say, I think Drake might be pretty foxy in ten years (when he is 32.) I can't believe I know these shows....grrrr, parenthood.
  10. Here's some very pretty Bonnie (and Cheyenne Mize) morning music. http://www.karatebodyrecords.com/among-the-gold/
  11. The only distinctive radio personality who will always stand out in memory for me that I can think of at the moment is Garrison Keillor, maybe Ira Glass.
  12. It's true, it's hard to find interesting new music on the radio, especially in rural areas. Where I spent my teen years (which are pretty major music consumption years for everyone, right?) the only things you could tune in on the radio with any clarity were current country and oldies rock. I think my music exposure would probably be half or less than what it is now if it weren't for the internet. There are interesting things here and there on the radio for us backwoods folks...like the occasional exposure to college radio and NPR (especially late at night) but they're few and far between. I
  13. YHF:AGIB:SBS 1. I am trying to break your heart: At least that
  14. Only ever became familiar with him once I moved to Arkansas, then throughout high school, it seemed I couldn't turn the radio on without catching "...the rest of the story." It saddened me to hear of his passing because his voice became so familiar to me during all of those restless younger years spent driving through these mountains.
  15. I'll finish "Childhood's End" tonight and then I start the Rama series.
  16. Love is stinky business. It's amazing to feel yourself wrapped in its clutches, but love is as imperfect as anything and guaranteed to bum you out sometimes, regardless of who you're sharing that love with. Oh, sweet mystery of life...
  17. Montessori is a good program, overall. You definitely want to ask a lot of questions before you sign up. I visited our school as an observer for one of my college courses and decided I wanted to send my kid there based on what I saw. I'm a little sour on this particular school now because my daughter has been coming home singing "Jesus Loves Me" and talking about angels and heaven. I didn't see that coming, had no idea they were going to discuss those sorts of things...it's something I'd rather they leave to us, as parents, but it's not been a major issue.
  18. I've been thoroughly enjoying Cotton Jones' "Paranoid Cocoon." You people will like it.
  19. I have a nephew due to arrive in April. My alcoholic friend is in 30 day rehab right now, finally. Hopefully, sobriety will convince him to divorce his psycho wife. My daughter starts kindergarten this fall, which means no more dropping buckets of dough on Montessori school anymore, woohoo! I get to see Andrew Bird next month. And every day I wake up knowing the world is my oyster (and it's not a rancid oyster too often.)
  20. Guess it's got something to do with luck, I've waited my whole life for just one....
  21. I've been in Bonnie mode for a while now, so it doesn't surprise me that I already love it (on listen #2 now), but it's not an album I would play for someone if they'd never heard him and needed converting. My first impression (and this could change before tomorrow even) is that the music comes across as rather straight-forward, very listenable and not unsettling or anything but the lyrics hold more than one might notice if they weren't paying very close attention. I've got the headphones on...headphones is always a good thing.
