"We're Kids Incorporated! K! I! D! S!" The cuss word baseball cards! My partner talks about those from time to time. He had it too!

That's actually kind of neat. I might take that setup if it's all one residence. I'm a bit perplexed by the red cargo container on the right side though.

E.B. White...makin' me feel bad about eating bacon and squishing spiders. Love it though, they were some of the first books I put on my daughter's shelf before she was even born, along with these:

"Holy crap!" is what I was gong to say too, Sooie! That's just crazy...so, it was just random shooting? Nobody in the band is boning someone's wife or something, right? I'm glad no one was hurt. It could have turned out so tragically. Jeez...craziness.

It is and he's spectacular! My favorite scene is on , but you probably don't want to watch it out of context if you're planning on watching the movie some time...it won't ruin the rest of the movie or anything. It's just such a good scene I'd hate to see it orphaned if it didn't need to be.

"'Cuz it's an old show and you see, the other show broke, so they're putting on these old shows..." With the nasally, whiny kid voice...I love it! I like to think about all of the crap I just had to have(!) for school but probably didn't really use anyway. It was all for show, little plastic birds on your pencil just make you look cool, that's all! I couldn't find a photo of the rubbery little monster guy pencil toppers, with the open mouths and floppy arms...anyone know what I'm talking about? You couldn't sneak into your Trapper Keeper during class to get pencil and paper for writing

Made me cry today!

It totally is. I'm nostalgic for everyone's childhood. Even my Dad's who when I asked him what kinds of toys he played with as a kid, replied, "We used to use thread and a spool to make a yo yo and other times we would just runs spools back and forth across a string," and he wasn't joking. So, on behalf of my father,

Holy crap! I'd forgotten about that place! I'm big into old toys and all about Fisher Price (because the history is such that pretty much everyone you know has had the stuff going back for several generations). As proof of my love, I present you with this awkwardly posed photo of my bitchin' Little People tattoos (it's hard to see in the photo, but the boy has a halo and the girl has horns): I'll add more to them eventually and I'm thinking my next tattoo might be one of these happy fellas: One of my other favorite FPs is: I loooove this stuff!

I had to fight back tears of nostalgic joy when watching this with my three year old earlier this year, especially when Dorthy returns to Kansas and delivers all of that "...and you were there, and you!" It was absolute magic. "Momma, what are you crying for?" "Ummm...I'm not. Sniff..sniff."

It's highly uncool of me, but good lawd, I adored this as a kid:

There's no way I could put a list here as most of my favorites are "classics" and most of the classics are my favorites! But I'll take this moment to ditto Stooka's "Hud" and say that Paul Newman is an absolute golden god and "Cool Hand Luke" is definitely in my top ten (along with Hud, probably).

What's the oldest thing in your house?
yermom replied to bjorn_skurj's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I've got a 1908 Copy of "The Lady of the Lake." It smells fantastic! And a lot of other older books but mostly from the '20s-'30s. I recently acquired an old Underwood yypewriter from the '30s too, which isn't really that old but it's still awesomeness (and weighs a ton, if we ever have a burglar, I'll just grab it and throw it on his foot). I like to tap at the keys just to here it go. We've really got a lot of old stuff. Old stuff is the best! My partner has a coin collection he inherited from his dad, so our oldest thing is probably one of those but I haven't looked at them in a while so -
Came out on the 4th, officially.

That's Miss Loretta Lynn.

We've got a '99 Kia Sephia that we bought in 2000. I haaaaate that car. It really is a hunk of junk, and it's not a case of crappy owners being rough on their car and then blaming it when it falls apart or something. They screwed up so bad on that model. Words cannot express how flawed that car is...just all around poor design and execution, super cheap and it shows. I've heard good things about the Sportage SUV though, so I don't think all Kias are bad or anything. Just the Sephia...it makes me want to throw things. I get angry just thinking about that car.

I've got a 2000 Ford Ranger pickup and I luuuurve it! Small enough to be fuel efficient and easy to park but still with all the convenience of being able to haul things around in the back. Cozy interior, roomy enough, all around solid ride. carsurvey.org is the greatest thing ever. It's an awesome resource. When I go car shopping, I check the lots and the paper, etc. then if something catches my eye, I go to Car Survey to look it up and see what real owners of that particular model have to say about it. There's no way I'd buy a car without checking it first. It's free too.

It's my first initial and my middle name, as I am actually named Loretta Lynn.

They should change the listing photo from that black dress shot to Jude's avatar. Bidding would triple!

How Long Did It Take You to Forget?!?
yermom replied to Wilco Worshipper's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I've got several brothers, but only one younger than me, Tim. This past New Year's Eve, he didn't go to any of the parties he was invited to, didn't do anything at all but stay home in bed with his Labrador. On New Year's Day, my dad mentioned this to me in a complaining, "Tim's always so damned cranky...gotta bug up his butt..." kind of way. Apparently, my dad had forgotten that December 31st was our other brother's birthday...our brother who died in 2006 at 27 years old! My dad felt really awful for not having realized that this was obviously the reason Tim was down and will probably always
