Sky Blue Sky - Confession of a Relatively New Fan
Smokestack Joe replied to xTonyWonder's topic in Just A Fan
Led Zeppelin put out classic records but not all of them were revered by critics and fans. They had a lot of great classic rocks songs and then some were quite lame and unheralded. But their legacy turned out fine. -
the land of Wisconsin will totally enjoy it!!! not a complaint, but i love Wilco in the Pabst but Riverside seats more people so that makes sense. Glad the days of The Rave/Eagles Ballroom are over. Thanks to the crew at Pabst/Riverside for becoming buddies with Tony! see you Sconnies in Madison and Milwaukee (twice, crossing fingers)

When Wilco plays live the next few weeks, i wonder what songs they won't play live from this record...the record is great but i love to see/hear how songs are performed live, obviously takes on a whole new feel to the song.

I think the record is better, to me, than SBS and W(TA). but for me, nothing will be better than the early lineup therefore Being There will ALWAYS be my favorite record. That era, if you were a fan back then and saw them in concert, was a special time, you felt you were witnessing a band being on the cusp of accomplishing something great. it was a truly special time!! edit: HAHA, perhaps i am living in the past....

Jane Smiley's Boyfriend should be happy with that song, a spectacular song, perfect way to end an amazing record.
-
Im totally feeling the whole love from Wilco. thanks guys!

Standing O is a great foot stomper!
-
yes Capital City is TOTALLY Randy Newman!
-
i totally agree. but my opinion, 6 songs in and it is already a better record than WTA and SBS.....
-
Black Moon sounds like a song Iron & Wine would do. wow, really great.
-
i agree. i thought the song sounded better after that song, weird i know. more Pop sounding after that frizzled song. so far so great! on Sunloathe
-

-

awesome! sounds like a record like Heartbreaker. singing-strumming to live tape with little overdubs.

i dont know what i was thinking when i wrote that. perhaps im still sore that the band stopped playing for a few years. i used to see this band many many times and loved them. So Yeah, I am pumped about the record, original lineup, but im not going to think it will be TTGG. Times change.... -
i'm gonna miss ryan's work with the Cardinals but i think this record is going to be great. perhaps i think that because fans haven't seen/heard from Adams in awhile and there is some anticipation. Truely-talented musician.
