Milwaukee..where to go, what to do , eat?
Smokestack Joe replied to remphish1's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I live in milwaukee. Places to check out: Bayview, just south of downtown. Lots of coffee places like Alterra, Stone Creek. Restaurants like Odd Duck, Honey Pie, Classic Slice, Hue, Riviera Maya, Cafe Centraal (I used to live in Bayview). Bars-Burnhearts, Palomino, Lulu's, Bayview Bowl, Palm Tavern, Roman's Pub. Check out Sobelman's, best burger in town, imo. Oriental Theatre on Farwell Ave, Milwaukee's East Side, is a great place to see a film. Miller Park is a great place to see a MLB game. onmilwaukee.com is a good place to check out what is happening in town, music, food, arts, -
sure bob, it is a cool idea. Pearl Jam officially released a bunch of live shows too but wasnt it one release every few months or weeks or so?

i agree with you. i dont really understand why the huge box set other than to "make news" or maybe to feel relevant again. it is a cool idea but yeah the price kills it for me.
-
seems like the price was taken down for the whole box set

only had a few listens to it so far and i like it and yes not much a departure from records past but thats ok with it. Gonna miss him perform in Madison, so disappointed about that. liked the band on Conan, i was happy to see Chris Scruggs playing guitar with him, wondered where he has been. -
has this happened to anyone? I had a GF for 10 years and we would go see Wilco many times during our relationship, travel to different states to see them, etc....The relationship is over now and I still love Wilco and the music and the shows but it is different now, not the same enjoyment. It can't be shared with her anymore. anyone understand? I know this is sort of a ridiculous topic but it is a reality. The relationship has been over for almost a year so I am not in mourning or crying about it but musically-speaking, Wilco had a good role in our relationship.

wow, "Wherever" was on the list. I would have loved to hear that performance. I first heard that song on a Uncle Tupelo bootleg cassette. -

yeah i liked the New Years eve song. That is her schtick though, cutesy little old timey music. i didnt know Joe Gordon Levitt sang/played guitar. nice. -
I miss this band, I saw them once (post-stirratt) and it was a great time. Dog Days one of my all time favorite 'alt-country' records!

Wilco — 12/9/11, Milwaukee, WI (Riverside Theater)

I really enjoyed the show. Lots of good old tunes like Far Far Away, Im Always in Love, Cant Stand It, OUtta Mind (Outta Site). those songs brought me back to the BT/ST era at the Barrymore in Madison. great fun! Nels is just a sight to see during the solo of Impossible Germany, he improvises every time and it keeps getting better. plus it is a kick to watch Jeff in awe of Nels during the solo. I was fourth row and i havent been that close in years so it was a real joy! -
awesome, thanks!

thank you very much! -
Was at the show and it was indeed a spectacle. First off, i want to say how great Nick Lowe was, wow, total pro, great songwriter/performer, loved his set and his collaboration with Wilco on stage in the encore. His involvement made the show real special. Loved all the new songs in the live setting, I figured they'd perform Capital City since we were in Madison, but not as the opener. Love that whimsical song though. Art of Almost was super intense with the addition of a great light show behind them, wow, they really stepped it up for that song, it was dark onstage when Nels was doing hi

glad to see/hear RA back in action, i really missed that guy and im glad to hear that he is feeling good these days. i think we will hear it in the music, i can already hear it in Dirty Rain (first track off NPR stream.) my head is exploding with Wilco, Jayhawks, Ryan Adams new releases, i need ample time with each record.....too much! but i love it ha!

i really like the album but undecided to go see them live in november as i think the songs will sound better on record than live. doubtful to hear that blistering violin solo from Black Eyed Susan live. -
i would think someone recorded the live feed and made it a bittorrent???
