  1. I was happy to be in attendance at the wonderful Pabst Theater. I havent seen the Handasome Family since they opened for Wilco back in the Riviera Theatre rock days. They were fantastic! The new material was a joy to experience. Some songs in the folk, country-ish range and some more experimental and some straight out rock! It was odd seeing Tweedy performing with other musicians but refreshing as well and it was a delight to see him perform with his son. I observed their interaction a lot. Very cool to see. Tweedy was funny as usual and emotional. A great show and selfishly happy that it

  6. I posted a lot back in the day as i believe i found ViaChicago when it was created. Id often check the site many times a day as i enjoyed reading about people's stories, concert reviews, and info about other bands. Heck, I even purchased a Via Chicago coffee mug! I've never changed my name either. But i've shied away from posting, its just not my thing anymore. I still like reading it though. Cheers!

  9. to each their own...people complaining about the show was expected but at least you got to attend the festival! no money, no festival!
  10. great post, thanks for sharing! i remember Gary saying he wasnt healthy and was taking a rest so to read that he is back performing im very happy for him.
  11. Great lineup, great show but maybe in stuck in the mid 90s. id rather see a Wilco-Jayhawks-Blue Mountain lineup at this festival. I havent been to St. Paul in a few years. Perhaps i'll go to that show.
  12. listened to the stream of the new record Honky Tonk.it is classic Son Volt sound, i really like it. it'll sound better in my car driving in the country when it is warmer out. The pedal steel is the real highlight.
  13. it is sort of unfair or difficult to compare Nels with Jay, two different style of guitarists, two completely different bands/eras.
  14. 3/31/13---can't wait for season 3 of Game of Thrones
  15. Again....that is too bad. i was just looking them up online the other day. i missed the last Cary solo record and was checking to see if BM were playing shows. One of the best bands from the mid 90s Alt-Country, Insurgent Country scene.
  16. Seeing Jay Bennett with Wilco during the Being There-Summerteeth touring era was a true delight. Seeing Jay Bennett play with Ed Burch was also a real treat although there seemed to be a somber cloud hanging over the stage. but nonetheless, the music was magic.
  17. fun interaction between the two Jeffs. i really enjoyed it.
  18. the Showtime show Shameless referenced Wilco a lot in their latest episode. It was funny, they kinda ripped the band.
  19. I just got the RA/Whiskeytown book titled Losering, a Story of Whiskeytown. im hoping it is a good read.
  20. Im on a Whiskeytown binge lately (good Autumn music). Gawd, i miss this band.
  21. i really want to see Ryan live again, it has been too long for me.
