  1. i put the left sleeve on first, swung the jacket over my back, then put the right sleeve on.
  2. i've seen near-complete Randy Newman discographies going for $4 a piece in some used cd stores, and i don't know if that makes me sad or happy. probably sad. also, i loved Bad Love. the first track off that is one of my favorite Newman songs ever
  3. I'm gonna try not to gush here, but Randy Newman is a favorite of mine and this is great news for anyone who loves Randy and wanted an album to go with his great 2007 single, "A Few Words in Defense of Our Country." There's a few other songs on the new album that'll be familiar to Newman fans, including a new version of "Feels Like Home" (from his unbelievable 1995 album Faust, originally with Bonnie Raitt on vocals (can't wait to hear it with Randy's voice)). It's his first album of (mostly) new material since 1999's fantastic and sadly forgotten Bad Love, and I am peeing myself with exciteme
  4. Hey LouieB, next spring I'll be taking a class on contemporary improvisation at UC Berkeley taught by Myra Melford (who you're probably familiar with, she's played with Threadgill, Jarman, Jenkins, and a lot of the AACM cats over the years); she also teaches a performance workshop specifically on the music of the AACM which sounds pretty amazing. I don't know how many other schools have specific courses on the music of the AACM, so I thought I would brag a bit. Go Bears! I know that until a few years ago George Lewis himself taught at UC San Diego before moving to Columbia, so they can brag
  5. i hope it comes out on nonesuch, because nonesuch is the tits.
  6. that solo version is available on an ep on itunes i believe.
  7. i remember that the trailer that played in movie theatres had a scratchy vinyl version of joanna newsom's 'sprout and the bean' and it made it sound really creepy

    Neu!

good to hear there's been quite a few people promoting things on here throughout the years so you can understand where i was coming from. way to go oceanman. although that was probably my favorite thread of all time.

    Neu!

seems like an advertisement for whatever 'seeqpod' is. this post reminds me of the time that girl came on here posing as a random poster to post youtube videos of herself singing, and then made another account as herself to accept the compliments from her first fake account. that was good times. but if it's a real fan that just wants to talk about Neu!, i apologize. and yes great band and yes great influence on spiders. but this should be probably be in the 'someone else's song' category. welcome to the boards.
  13. i think you should edit the subtitle of the thread to include the *not Neil Peart. you're gonna scare some people.
  14. that's a new one for me; i didn't know malkmus was on there either (if it's true)
  15. i am such a sucker for cd/dvd combos, i usually watch the dvd as often as any other dvd i have. but i am way more likeley to buy a cd if it comes with a dvd.
  16. MOTHERFUCKER HE IGNORED CALIFORNIA AGAIN!
  17. that's what i thought last time but it was a big for me
  18. i think the title of the tour refers to how when he plays live the stage is covered in glitter and when he stomps on the ground, glitter clouds the air. it looks kindy doomy. i dunno. just come to california for crissakes.
  19. i swear to god if the concerts aren't near me again i'll kill myself
  20. i don't remember that show being a secret, i remember it being announced like a normal show except when the tickets went on sale they changed the band name to some wilco-related word, i forget what. hey, that was my first wilco show! but seeing as i'm going uc berkeley next fall i could really really go for a night-before show at the college.
  21. kirkland signature called, they want their brand of british folk-pop back took one for the team.
