I love her Fairport stuff as well as the first few solo discs. Might have to pull them out tonight.

Kick out the jams, motherfucker...

Fantastic version of Sir Duke!

I hear ya. I bought that Born to Run reissue with the DVD's when it came out. I think I prefer the sound of the previous issue though. Unfortunately a lot of these new re-masters are just compressed so they can be mixed louder, which usually sucks out the subtleties and life out of the music. p.s. I don't know if you have it, but there's a pretty cool 4-disc bootleg collection called "The Replacements - Sessions Anthology 1980-1991." Lots of good outtakes, demos and unreleased stuff on it. I have a feeling that a lot of this stuff won't ever see the light of day.

I like McMurtry's other work so I'm sure I won't be disappointed. Great songwriter! The Levon Helm disc is pretty great too. I must dig that one out later.

Thanks for the link A-man. I think I'll have to add that to my list of things to look for next. I've heard those extras on bootlegs, but like you said it's nice to have them in a quality version. I love/hate all these great reissues. Part of me is like, damn you record company for making me buy this again; but the other part is like damn, I just have to get those extras and hear how this sounds remastered.

Another one hoping for Toronto

Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward = She & Him

Forget the stage presence, was she pitchy dawg? -
Yeah, I wasted my lunch hour trying to track these down and sadly Best Buy was one of the stores I tried. This is what I get for being in the suburbs. My usual record store downtown of course had the Mats reissues, but I won't be around there for at least a week so I had no choice. How is that Strangers Almanac reissue. Other than the extra songs, is there a noticeable difference soundwise compared to the original CD? (That's my favorite Whiskeytown disc btw.)

I went to a few stores yesterday to try and find these, but no luck, so I had to order online. Now I'm waiting impatiently for these to arrive... c'mon already .

^^ I really must check out that new McMurtry disc. NP:

What's the price of gas where you are?
GtrPlyr replied to Twisted Acres's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
With the prices the way they are I don't fill up the tank anymore, I just get $20 at a time, which sadly doesn't go far. Today I paid $1.19 Canadian a litre ($4.50 a gallon) for gas. I think I'm just going to attach a wagon to my bike and stop driving....forever. -
Moby Grape - Moby Grape

That's pretty much how I feel about it. They're one of my favorite bands (if not my favorite) but I'm not sure I want to see them do the Mats 2.0 thing as the possibility for disappointment is too great.

One of my favorite ways to inspire songwriting is to work in new tunings, or work with some established alternate tunings. Working in different tunings is like learning a new instrument. It can really open your eyes to new sounds and ways of constructing songs, and is a great way to break out of ruts as you can't fall back on familiar patterns and chords. Pretty much 75% of my songs start on an alternate tuned guitar. Some tunings I've been writing in lately (low to high): D G D G B D D# G D G B D D G D F A B C# G# C# F# G# C#

Radiohead - Fake Plastic Trees The Super Friendz - Karate Man The Doughboys - Fix Me Sloan - 500 Up The Killjoys - Rave + Drool

I see that the first 3 Sundazed releases can be found at Waffles in lossless form .

I'm glad I managed to get my hands on the Sundazed releases of Moby Grape and Wow before they disappeared.

Damn, I thought this was going to be about the band the Shoes. For comfort and all round versatility you can't beat a good pair of running shoes. I have a pair of Nike Air Max Moto 5+ which are good if you need a neutral-cushioned shoe. I pretty much only use them for jogging though, and usually wear some canvas Converse shoes or some older running shoes I have kicking about for everyday use.

Who knew that the difference between a bad record and a good one was the flick of a toggle switch. If only Jeff and the gang had known this, they might not have had those problems with Warners over YHF .

A Thread for Musical Blasphemy you Truly Believe
GtrPlyr replied to hardwood floor's topic in Someone Else's Song
Definitely! Also, the use of "overrated" to describe an artist/group is so overused these days that it has become meaningless. -
Watching the "Let It Be" movie last night inspired me to pull this one out today.
