The Black Eyed Peas "My Humps" was quite heinous.

Have that Penn record and second that opinion.

I just heard about Vic. I'm not sure I can even bring myself to listen to any of his music right now.
-
Wow, I don't know what to say. Vic is one of my favorite songwriters, this is very sad news indeed...

This is a hard one to find. I did manage to find an .avi version on the net, but no subtitles unfortunately. Does yours have subs Todd? edit: I see there's an English subtitled version available in Brazil. I just emailed a friend of mine in Rio de Janeiro who's a big movie buff to see if she has this, or has access to it.

This is one of those typical SNL one-note sketches that has moderate appeal--and laughs--the first time around, but should never be repeated, ever! Of course SNL loves to resurrect these so-so bits over and over again, because, let's face it, they don't have much to work with. I must admit I find a few of Kristen Wigg's characters to be grating and not all that funny. I sure miss Amy Poehler...

Wrote A Song For Everyone is one of my favorite CCR songs. Would have loved to have heard that. Paul Westerberg did a pretty good cover of it on one of his tours a few years back too for what it's worth.

Some really great artists and performances in this documentary.

What a dark ending to the season. I had a feeling Rita would be a goner once Trinity started searching out Dex's home address. The producers obviously realize there is quite a few fans that find her annoying, so it seemed inevitable that she wasn't long for the show. You pretty much summed up my thoughts after watching the episode. (And what an episode it was!) He definitely can't have the police looking for a link between him and Trinity... so maybe a cover up to make it look like a robbery/murder (or some such thing), or make it look like a suicide, or just make it look like she left hi

That's another one that popped to mind for me too.

^^ Tilbrook's an incredible guitar player; very underrated. I don't know if I have a fave solo, but it's hard to beat these ones: All Along the Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix Comfortably Numb - David Gilmour Sympathy for the Devil - Keith Richards I tend to prefer melodic and heartfelt solos over technically showy ones.

Regarding Prince saying he'd never heard the song, I've read a few Prince biographies over the years and recall reading that most of his exposure to other peoples music came through his band mates. Wendy, Lisa and Eric Leeds turned him onto all kinds of Jazz and Rock records for instance. I think he's so busy creating his own music that he doesn't actively pursue others music all that much. So him not knowing that Harrison song is totally believable.

Probably the best film about skiing ever, though the category is extremely slim. Redford is well suited as the cocky, self-centered American skier rising up the ranks of the international circuit. The film does a good job of capturing the fleeting nature of stardom in the sports world.

I make sure to avoid this thread until I'm caught up on the latest episode for that very reason. Unfortunately I don't have Showtime so I have to d/l episodes, which means the earliest I get to watch it is on Monday.

That Introduction to Also Sprach gets to me everytime.

I'm a fan of his solo stuff--play "Meat" quite often--as well as some of the Tall Drawfs stuff. I didn't hear about the stroke, thanks for the links so I can catch up on what's going on.
