I find that most musicians are good at honestly assessing their own work .

It might just be a ploy to score another guitar lesson from Richard Lloyd .

Even though it looked like a contrived moment to get a great album noticed on TV, I thought that was pretty cool too. And hey, it worked so I'm all for it.

When I heard Wilco was going to be featured, I was hoping Bill was going to have something to do with the segment. He definitely would've brought a bit more depth and insight to the piece. Mind you, as a regular viewer of this show, it was pretty much how I expected it would be: light, entertaining and not too in-depth, this ain't 60 Minutes after all .

Maybe RS is better than I give them credit for, but in general I find the artists they cover--and put on the cover--seem to be mainly mainstream musicians that can move big numbers of magazines off the shelves, more so than artistically important artists. There are exceptions though, that Kristofferson article was pretty good from what I recall .

My girlfriend watches this show religiously, I end up watching it too most Sundays. Looking forward to seeing Wilco on there.

The fact they went at the rehab angle is just more proof--not that we needed any--that RS is more about tabloid type fodder than actual music stories.

I have the Por Vida tribute CD, but didn't know there was a live Alejandro record of the same name. Will have to look for this. I saw Alejandro with his 2 piece band a few months back playing a small church, what a fantastic show. NP: John Stewart - California Bloodlines

I plan on watching this one today: Fred Williamson and Bo Svenson, should be interesting. I'll be curious to see how Tarantino's version compares.

I haven't heard this in years. I had it on cassette if that's any indication how long it's been.

Here's a few that popped to mind: Lucinda Williams - Real Live Bleeding Fingers (Paul Westerberg) Vic Chesnutt - Lucinda Williams (Not really a tribute, but a song title and a mention in the song is good enough in my books) Wilco - The Lonely 1 (Paul Westerberg? not sure, but it has been speculated upon) American Music Club - Johnny Mathis' Feet (Johnny Mathis) Todd Snider - Thin Wild Mercury (Phil Ochs) Amy Rigby - Dancing with Joey Ramone (Joey Ramone) ABC - When Smokey Sings (Smokey Robinson) The Commodores - Nightshift (Marvin Gaye and Jackie Wilson) Art Brut - The Replacements (The Mats

I dig this record... It's been a while since I gave it a spin, must dig it up tomorrow.
