  1. I see from the tracklisting that she covers a recent Death Cab for Cutie song, hmmm, interesting. I hope the record is mostly originals, not a big fan of covers in general. I don't have the Wooden Sky disc yet, but I did hear a few tracks from it recently, and they were quite good. I will definitely have to search that one out. NP: Andre Ethier - On Blue Fog
  2. I didn't even know she had a new disc coming out. How is it?
  3. I'd love a piano. For now I'm stuck with my old Korg M1.
  4. One of my all-time favorite records. The Beautiful Ones is such a great song, and has one of the best screams ever put to tape.
  5. I saw them there a few years back, but didn't make it to this show. I miss the days of Blue Rodeo's Stardust picnic at Old Fort York.
  6. No, but after watching the trailer I've added it to my rental queue. The lead actor sort of looks like a cross between Nick Cave and Clint Howard.
  7. Doris - Did You Give the World Some Love Today Baby
  8. About halfway through this: Not sure if anyone ever kicked ass with as much style as Mrs. Peel .
  9. I didn't find Breaking the Waves or Dancer in the Dark creepy, but damn those are some emotionally devastating films. I remember my girlfriend and I saw Requiem for a Dream then went to see a late showing of Dancer in the Dark. My head was swirling for hours after that doubleheader.
  10. All the previous Wilco discs set up camp in my player and didn't leave for weeks. For some reason this one hasn't been played all that much in comparison. Having said that, I find with each listen I'm liking more and more songs on it. And yes, Country Disappeared is one of my favorite tracks as well.
  11. I know quite a few people that would never kill an insect or any other living thing, yet they'll devour a steak no problem. I suppose killing lifeforms is alright as long as someone else is doing the killing for you .
  12. Funkadelic - One Nation Under a Groove (the title track has to be one of the best party tracks ever)
  13. Another Girl, Another Planet - The Only Ones I Wanna Destroy You - The Soft Boys Blue Boy - Orange Juice Couldn't I Just Tell You - Todd Rundgren Flavor of the Month - The Posies Starry Eyes - The Records So It Goes - Nick Lowe Sick of Myself - Matthew Sweet September Gurls - Big Star Left of the Dial / Alex Chilton - The Replacements Teenage Kicks - Undertones Non-Alignment Pact - Pere Ubu Trash - New York Dolls Get Off of My Cloud - The Stones Black and White - The dB's One Nation Under a Groove - Funkadelic
  14. Some good ones mentioned already. I'll add: The Tenant (Roman Polanski) Chuck & Buck (Miguel Arteta) Don't Look Now (Nicolas Roeg) Suspiria (Dario Argento) Spoorloos / The Vanishing (George Sluizer) The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Tobe Hooper) Three Women (Robert Altman) The Hitcher (Robert Harmon) Audition (Takashi Miike) Caché (Michael Haneke) Picnic at Hanging Rock (Peter Weir) When a Stranger Calls (Fred Walton) Carrie (Brian De Palma)
  15. S. America: Caetano Veloso Jorge Ben Gal Costa Tim Maia Gilberto Gil Milton Nascimento Tom Zé Africa: Fela Kuti Hugh Masekela King Sunny Ade Asia: Shonen Knife
  16. I have his last two records, though I must admit I haven't listened to the newest one all that much. The one posted above got a lot of spins when I first got it, and is my favorite of the two.
  17. An unflinching look at male camaraderie as 3 friends face a midlife crisis after the death of a good friend. Like most Cassavetes films, this one feels honest and reveals truths about us that most directors don't ever get near.
  18. What format is the video barbkm, avi, mpeg, other?
