  1. I remember seeing Bryson open for the Weakerthans in 2001. I didn't know him going in, but ended up picking up his only record at the time: I love his other 2 records, but I think that one is still my favorite.
  2. I did a Bass TAB for Handshake Drugs a while back that can be found here: http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?sho...Handshake+Drugs
  3. Separation of Mechanism and Policy - Has Nobody to Thank
  4. Yep, most of those artists would've made my list too (I like Judee, but she might not have cracked my top 100.) Doris Duke and The Zombies would also have made it.
  5. ^^ I thought that was sweet and touching. Richard Jenkins was was quite good in it. Started watching this earlier:
  6. Good to see I'm not alone in my Big Star love. I only went with the 2-fer CD because I couldn't bare choosing between the two records. Any of the first 3 Big Star records could've made my list really.
  7. On second look I see that 9 of my choices made the list. 01. Big Star - #1 Record/Radio City (I seem to be the only 1 who put this in their top 20 ) 02. The Beatles - 1967-1970 (The Blue Album) 03. Marvin Gaye - What's Going On 04. The Replacements - Let It Be 05. Bob Dylan - Bringing It All Back Home 06. Sly & the Family Stone - There's a Riot Goin' On 07. The Band - The Band 08. The Rolling Stones - Exile on Main St. 09. Television - Marquee Moon 10. Prince - Purple Rain 11. Nick Drake - Pink Moon 12. Curtis Mayfield - Curtis 13. Bob Marley - Legend 14. The Millennium - Begin 15. Harry
  8. Thanks for compiling that list . Only 7 of my 20 made it .
  9. Gena Rowlands is superb as usual in this.
  10. Just popped these 2 lovelies into the CD player:
  11. I grew up with the German language--my Mom is from Berlin--so I know of what you speak .
  12. Me too! I think it might be my most played disc of 2008. I pasted the intro part from another board and didn't read it over. That's what I get for not proofreading.
  13. It sounds like something the South Park guys might have done. For all I know it's Paul using tape speed controls to change his voice. I'm sure we'll hear more about why the 49:00 record was pulled in the future. The song already give us a pretty good idea. I don't think the low price point helped matters. I have a feeling that it must have pissed off a few industry types worried about the precedence it was setting. The apparent copyright infringement was of course the easiest way to attack the record. edit: I just found a reference to the Hitler quote here: http://www.markprindle.
  14. Looks like Paul has given us the missing 5:05 from the last release: http://studio.tunecore.com/store/product/47 After the ridiculously cheap 49:00, I was happy to be able to pay $5.05 for this. This definitely feels like a reaction to something that must have happened regarding the 49:00 release. I guess some copyright holders took issue with the song medley. This would account for its being pulled from Amazon. I'm thinking for Paul's next release he could do a nice medley of He's So Fine/My Sweet Lord . Here's the lyrics as best I can make out: [voice over] That was the voice o
  15. Jonathan Richman - Because Her Beauty Is Raw and Wild
  16. The Hold Steady - Almost Killed Me
  17. I've given this one many spins and I'm still loving it.
