so far the only song Im not crazy about is Standing O. It's a little generic. other then that I think even Born Alone and Open Mind despite their simple pop lyrics are supported by a great amount of instruumentation that still make it different and enjoyable.
-
What makes these songs better then what was on Wilco the album is the added instrumentation. These songs have a lot more sonic depth then their last 2 records

I think you need to listen to the album a little bit more before making such generalizations. I think a lot of the songs that you think are boring, are really great folk songs.

FYI...the rip that is floating around on Waffles is super low quality. If you play I Might, via the single, and then play the rip you can really tell the difference.

I have a webrip. Havent heard it yet though...

This is why I didn't overplay I Might. Hearing it come on after AoA was a nice transition

woot woot. So will it be in the "roadcase section" or the "music" section of the site? -
how some of you can hold out is pretty impressive. I am all over this. Hope for a decent webrip to hit the net soon after so I can take it on the go.

No don't delete it. What did your friend think of the album. Funny that we are seeing more reviews from the international community then the American one.

Watching Nels play Impossible Germany live is pretty amazing. I like that he has a big influence but does not over power the Wilco sound. -

torture..I can't think of the last album that i read about online before hearing. Gotta give Wilco mad props for keeping this album "safe" from the public, even though it was sent to press it seems like a month ago. Looks like they did a really good job of scaring Journos with threats not to leak. -

Where did the Art of Almost lyrics come from? Also the new M83 album that just leaked is amazing. -

This is been hinted by jeff, when asked what he thought the album sounded like and he said Wilco. However even if the album feels like more of a collection than a cohesive theme, if the songs are good it won't matter. I mean there really aren't any songs in the Wilco catalog that sound like I Might. So that is assuring -
ive only heard I Might a handful of times, I didnt want to burn out on it by the time the album came out, which happens a lot with singles.

I wish I could hear this album before I read all these lame impressions form snarky bloggers. It may be jealousy, but I don't think these people deserve to hear this and brag about it. Where is the leak god dammit!!!!?? -
Stream baby stream!

yeah, I could see how people could get pissed about that, but Jeff is the one that encourages it. I think he is tired of singing that song, and just likes the audience to do it for him. ha ha.

WIlco is different because they havent had any huge radio hits that were and still are played to death on rock radio. I guess the song I think they play at every show that Im kinda sick of is Heavy Metal Drummer. They play Jesus Etc alot too, but I still love that song, mainly because of the great audience participation song it's become. I am not tired of any of their songs, although I'd rather them play something off Being There then Wilco (TA)...they usually do a good job of picking their set list, they always seem to pop in a rare song, or a cover I hadn't heard before. Still pissed they di

yeah, but in the context of REM, there "hits" are the songs they usually play live anyway. When I saw them on the Accelrate tour they played Man on the Moon, Everybody Hurts, and Losing My Religion..I don't ever have to hear any of these songs for the rest of my life. My point is, most of the fans that go to an REM show, just want them to play stuff from 82-94, they rarely play that stuff live besides the well known songs from that era. There are SO many great songs in their catalog..but they tend to play the radio hits instead. Few of the fans from my experience even like those songs anymore.
