That is not remotely true. EDIT: Obviously, I'm late to the party in noting this.

Ken, this was absolutely fantastic. Thanks so much! Your generosity over the years has meant a lot to many people. Thanks for the great night. Here are some pics from last night, along with links from the past couple of years if anyone has any interest: http://web.me.com/johnrooks/Site_2/Jeff_Tweedy_Living_Room_Show_2010.html

Yep, I was at that show. Maybe the best opener in the Wilco canon. And good lord was the Pabst a beautiful little theater.

Kind of a lazy, thrown-together piece, but nice to see them getting the pub. A couple quibbles: Maybe they don't mention winning the Grammy for AGIB because it doesn't fit with the "they just might make it now!" narrative. Also, my understanding is the Tweedy fam lives in Chicago proper, not the 'burbs as indicated.

Yeah, tall people are total rude jerk line cutters. That makes sense. Ridiculous.

The hate of I'll Fight, which I think is one of the catchier tunes on the album (though not my favorite all-time Wilco song), I'll never understand. Damn good song. Solitaire is the only one on the new album that I fast forward through at this point. I'll never get the dislike of I'll Fight.

More of this? Lame.

One of my faves. I've never seen Wilco do it, but I've seen Jeff play it live at a Vic solo show a few years back.

I guess this is Uncle Tupelo, but I've been to Sauget of Sauget Wind. Also, there's another Germany reference in I'm a Wheel.

Bah. Sad, sad stuff. It feels compounded in that he never seemed to find his place in the universe after departing from Wilco, but maybe that's just a Wilco-fan-centric point of view. Love him or hate him, he was a driving force between a lot of beautiful music in the band for a good stretch.

The Ashes audio tracks have SICK sound quality

Ok, pardon me here if I'm being dense, but when I insert the dvd and click the extras link, it asks me to register for the bonus content. I filled out the registration, but still find no place to do the download. Then, when I log in, still nothing. What am I doing wrong here or are the downloadables not up yet? -

Five Wilco songs you can't stand to listen to.......
jnrjr79 replied to Sparky speaks's topic in Just A Fan
I also have to admit, I listen to the drone on Less Than You Think rather than fast forwarding more often than not. It's a good drone and there's actually a lot happening sonically if you listen. I will say, too, that the drone was phenomenal at the residency. -

Heh, no, but I agree with him on that one. The lyrics are downright painful. -

Only three on the proper studio albums I don't really care for: I Thought I Held You (worst song, IMO) My Darling Shake it Off -
1/3 were playing. Who were the 1/3 in attendance?
-
We actually played Sunday at 5:00. They kept telling us to turn down to not overwhelm the main stage. Heh.

If you're on Obama's email list, you got an email from the campaign about it today.

The High Court is making some pretty popular decisions these days
jnrjr79 replied to mfwahl's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
The chances are 0 they had an advance copy, but they certainly already had their complaint drafted (and likely multiple versions depending on different contingencies) for some time. There were only so many was the SCOTUS could go, so it was fairly predictable that 1 of 2 outcomes would result. Also, they would have had access to the briefs and transcripts of the oral argument, so unless the court brought up issues on their own outside the record, they knew where the decision would turn. -

Buying a New Computer - Need Advice!
jnrjr79 replied to Moe_Syzlak's topic in Solid State Technology
I don't have any experience with Seagate drives. Have you tried CNET or other review sites? Some drives are much more durable than others, it seems. I have LaCie drives that I've had success with over the years. -

I switched in 2001 and I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever go back. I don't want to start a Mac/PC flamewar, but for my purposes at least, you can pry my Mac(s) from my cold, dead hands. If I were in your situation, I would just buy a Mac Mini with a couple of large external hard drives. Unless you do a lot of graphic intensive stuff (gaming, serious video editing, etc.), it sounds like a Mac Pro would be overkill both in terms of capability and price. The Mac Pro, as its name suggests, is really a professional media person's machine. The Mac Mini is plenty for general email/web/Garageb -
I wish I had a link, but I remember reading a while back that Nels decided to retire his '59 Jazzmaster, so you shouldn't be seeing it at Wilco shows any longer.
