  1. yesssss...seriously, Beck is one of the hardest workers out there. This sounds so promising.
  2. well, all I'm saying is, is that even if you're not naming or acknowledging your musical influences, how does that make it racist? I don't understand what about it is racism, is all.
  3. here is a series of links: http://dustedmagazine.com/reviews/4276 http://animalcollectin.6.forumer.com/viewt...asc&start=0 http://gorillavsbear.blogspot.com/2008/05/...e-vs-money.html link 1) dusted magizine review by Andrew Beckerman, awful piece of music criticism. link 2) collected animals forum response link 3) gorilla vs. bear, discussion over the issue CONDENSED: So, writer of Dusted Magizine argues that Animal Collective is another overpriviliged white band not acknowledging their black roots and is "fetishizing" nature. Lots of overblown vernacular is used and the "Water Curse
  4. chapstick. it sucks so hard to wash, you get these oily blots all over your pants and requires special treatment to get it out.
  5. vote for real change: Mike Gravel.
  6. why does everyone want to label something immediately as genius? I really like some of these songs, but I don't think there's genius at work here.
  7. UGLY DUCKLING. http://www.myspace.com/uglyduckling
  8. really really good record. JOR can do anything, really. he has an amazing knack for arrangement, musicality, everything. btw, does anyone know where I might be able to get a tab of the song Insignifance?
  9. haha, my first play of the record, for whatever reason, started on Highly Suspicious, and I was really like "WTF"? and once I realized it wasn't the opening track I thought better of the album. ....seriousy though, that's a terrible song.
  10. wow, this was an incredible show. highlights include weird extended noise/syncopated jams that flowed from song to song but were actually songs themselves, 2 new songs (Numoni and 'Basketball Get Your Groove Back') Also, Greg Saunier talking on the mic for a second about how he wants the guitars to be louder so our ears would bleed, then the second he sat down, with no count in, they broke into the next song (Dummy Discards Heart). Other highlights: Greg Saunier playing drums with a tambourine and drumstick, Spirit Ditties of No Tone, and the breaking of "approximately one guitar amp, one s
  11. if anyone has 2 extra tickets, I will gladly pay for them.
  12. don't drink the punch, kids, seriously....
  13. who the shit are all these shitty bands that aren't Wilco
  14. why? I don't think adding sub forums costs money and moving threads isn't like rocket science.
  15. eh, why does there be a unified theory? it's mostly out of practicality. there are obvious choices-- The Dead, Ryan Adams, Neil Young/Dylan...Then I guess after that it just becomes a matter of watching for what bands come up often and deciding to plop them in there. I don't see why it has to be democratic, I don't think anyone's going to bitch about a thread being moved there. just put them in there and have all news relating to those groups (active or inactive) go in there, as well. For instance, if you have a Radiohead thread, that's where tour date posts could go, etc. if they're all
  16. Jeff- lobster fisherman John- baseball player, probably minor leagues Pat- aspiring model Nels- lumberjack Mikael- hipster; hangs out at coffee shops, smokes cigarettes, holds high opinion of his own views on art, life Glenn- drummer for a really 80's band holding his sticks differently.
  17. wait, instead of complaining about there being multiple threads on certain people, why don't you just make a subforum for stickied threads about those bands? that way, those big threads are out of this section but still exsist if people want them to.
  18. wow, what a diesel mustache on that guy.
  19. mostly because they probably went to a Wilco show and Wilco played and put 100% in, where, apparently Ryan Adams bitches, moans, and, well, fucks around. Sorry, but every time I hear his music and hear about him I just figure out more and more that this guy really thinks he is the shit and not a really mediocre paint by numbers alt cuntry douchebag. As much as I hate Conor Oberst, at least he has his own flair and bombast, Ryan Adams is just plain...well, plain.
  20. think of it this way. "Seems this teacher has already deflected the violence a student."
  21. I have an illegal, unreleased copy of Smell the Glove, full cover and all.
