  1. Just got back from the Decemberists at the National in Richmond. Great show. Was happy to see Kelly Hogan was with them.
  2. Wolf Trap just announced Wilco for June 9! Not even up on Wilcoworld yet but it came up in my Facebook feed from Wolf Trap. Depending on whether you're a member and at what level, tickets could be available now but will be on sale to the public on April 22.
  3. Yeah, they have in the past, but closer to the festival date.
  4. In case anyone is still looking for a hotel for Solid Sound, the owner of The Willows in Williamstown just called me today. A group of people from Germany just cancelled and that freed up 5 rooms. The rooms have 2 queen beds (but I think one of the rooms has just 1 queen). He's looking for a 3-night minimum stay and it's $199 per night. I've stayed at The Willows twice and found it a very pleasant place with considerate management, not fancy but comfortable and spacious. I think all rooms have mini fridges. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
  5. I agree. It needs to be inside, and it probably needs to be seated. I was just thinking that maybe with their expansion there could be some other room available. I hate getting stuck in there for hours just to see one performer.
  6. Man, I wish they'd figure out something better than the Hunter Center for comedy. If you want to get in to see a particular person, you've pretty much got to get there at least two performers before them and get in line, because your only chance to get in is to wait for some people to leave from previous sets. As part of the crowd leaves, you can get closer to getting in. It can take half the day. I wanted to see Tig Notaro in 2015 and I had to watch 2 acts before her just to get into the auditorium. Maybe with their expansion they'll figure out a better location for the comedy, or some differ
  7. Despite my disdain for people recording long stretches of video on their cellphones, I would love to have seen these moments! Maybe Jeff will have time to perfect his duck walking skills over the next few days.
  8. I've missed listing many of my musical adventures recently, but tonight and tomorrow night I'll be seeing Ryan Adams at the National in Richmond.
  9. It does usually work, but it depends on the venue and the number of you vs. them. I was at a GA Drive By Truckers show not long ago and I was alone in the midst of what turned out to be a group of people who I guess all knew each other. That wasn't so apparent when I politely asked one of the couples if they could keep it down. They collectively jumped down my throat like I was out of line. I just sidled out of the way and found a new place to stand.
  10. The harmony vocals are really coming through beautifully in this webcast.
  11. I'm excited for you too, Daydream. Your first show being in Chicago, last night of the residency. It should be one for the books.
  12. And thanks for the margarita Donna but I'm on antibiotics right now. Only organic substances tonight.
  13. Hmm, looks like the band has been reading the comments about setlist similarities. They're definitely upsetting the apple cart with tonight's setlist!
  14. Just joined at Misunderstood. What did I miss?
  15. I wasn't there but from some pictures I saw I believe Jeff's t-shirt actually said, in large white letters on a black shirt, We're all in this together. And then just under that, in smaller white letters: except trump. he's a dick. Jeff's wife had posted a link on Facebook to a friend who was selling these shirts and I bought one. Wasn't expecting to see it on Jeff, but I like wearing it! Thanks for the great recap, Paul.
  16. I'm excited for all you Winterluders. Y'all better post some good, detailed reports!
  17. I'm going and am really excited about it! With all the hubbub about the Solid Sound lineup reveal today this kind of got lost in the shuffle, but I'm very much looking forward to this weekend. I was able to find a cheap place on Airbnb and can drive from Norfolk, Virginia, so I'm coming solo and hoping to meet up with new friends. I know nothing about what to expect other than general recommendations from friends, so I'd love to hear from any of you who are going.
  18. I think this is where we'll see the announcements first. http://www.wfuv.org/
  19. Dave, I'm so sorry! Someone almost backed into me as I was walking back to my car in a grocery store parking lot the other day and I had visions of how easily something like that could happen. So scary! I hope you heal up quickly, my friend!
  20. There's nothing better than a Chicago Wilco show. Happy birthday to your wife!
  21. Is anyone still looking for a hotel for Solid Sound? I just got a call from the owner of The Willows, which is close in Williamstown (approximately 5 miles away) and right at a shuttle bus stop. [Edit: I hear the shuttle bus stop might have been eliminated.] He has a few rooms available and is looking for a three night minimum stay, $199 per night. I've stayed at the Willows twice and thoroughly enjoyed myself both times. The management is great. It's an old-fashioned motor hotel style place with parking right in front of the rooms. The rooms are spacious and I believe most have two queen beds
