  1. I'm getting nothin' nothing' nothin' nothing at all
  2. On multiple night runs at the same venue, I feel sure there will be a lot of variety in the set lists. Maybe a few repeats but not many.
  3. Hey Monica. I will send you a PM. I may have some suggestions for you.
  4. Speaking from bitter experience, I would say just be sure not to miss your outbound flight. If you get bumped and there are snow delays you may end up having a very frustrating day. Also, try to get in as early as possible to account for any screw-ups.
  5. I can speak to the restorative power of good old rock and roll. Saw Drive By Truckers last night in Richmond and will be going again tonight. It's a 2-night stand at The National. For those 3 hours I didn't think about much other than the music and my aching feet.
  6. You're really outdoing yourself with these recaps, bbop, and it is so appreciated. I love the opener of On and On and On. Sometimes Jeff's delivery of that song is especially emotional and expressive, like he's yearning to reach right into your heart. I can imagine that this was one of those nights.
  7. I just thought of one good thing that came out of yesterday. We can smoke weed with impunity at Solid Sound.
  8. On CBS Saturday Morning, before a segment about casino gambling, they played a clip of Casino Queen.
  9. Last night on This Is Us they played most of If I Ever Was a Child at the end of the episode. I think it's a pretty sappy show, very much in the vein of Parenthood, but it was nice to hear Wilco.
  10. There's plenty of activity when there is something to discuss. Like a new album, a new tour, Solid Sound, etc. Right now the band is in Europe and most of us aren't. The fact that there's now a Facebook group is probably making an impact on the activity level, however.
  11. I know it's not kosher to post AFTER the show, but I completely forgot to mention the incredibly fun show on Sunday night by Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls. High energy and great vibes that really got the crowd engaged.
  12. I just wanted to jump in here to say thank you for for maintaining this listing, nalafej. Nothing ever seems to come close to me here in Norfolk, VA, so I don't often look at it, but just this morning I noticed this event in Richmond, which is just about 90 minutes up the road. And on a Friday night, no less. I would never have found out about this otherwise. So thanks!
  13. His Iggy Pop impersonation is dead on.
  14. Actually last night, Henry Rollins. Ho. Lee. Shit. The man is a fucking machine. Almost two and a half hours of loud and vigorous narrative without a single pause and not a single sip of water the entire time. You could see the sweat flinging from his body. I have no idea how he is physically able to do that. It was awesome.
  15. It was a lovely, intimate show. Obviously, you miss the harmony vocals and the band when it's a solo acoustic show, but he was charming and in good voice, and the man can definitely write a song.
  16. Gary Louris tonight at a house concert under a tent on a beautiful night. Yes, I'm excited.
  17. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE another covers set. That was such fun, and the anticipation and voting ahead of time was a cool way to get us all involved.
  18. Squeeze with English Beat tonight! A rare sold out show at the Norva.
  19. I was in touch with Smells Like Flowers today and she's fine. She was able to stay with family who are more inland and is heading back home. However, she said it was really horrible. The water came within less than a foot of flooding her house.
  20. They did "Just Say Goodbye" as the final song of the final night at the Fillmore. No Roadcase recording, though.
  21. Really extraordinary I think. And the interview segment is very revealing, especially about the poetic license Jeff took with the songs on Schmilco. Ever a man of mystery.
  22. I think they're terrific. They played a show here in Norfolk Virginia maybe right after that first album came out. The turnout was so low they moved the show to the attached bar/restaurant instead of in the main theater. But they did not seem fazed and they put on a great show for a tiny crowd.
  23. There are so many. It makes me sad that I used to read so many more books than I do now. I'm still an insatiable reader, but more short pieces these days. Maybe if I can ever retire I'll get my book reading mojo back. Anyway, two that immediately spring to mind are John Updike's Rabbit Run--and all its successors--and Catcher in the Rye.
  24. Old 97s at the Norva tonight.
