Breathing a sigh of relief and very happy to report one more thing to be thankful for--the tickets from Front Gate arrived yesterday via UPS.

2 or more tickets for Tweedy, Charlottesville, 12/8
Magnetized replied to Magnetized's topic in Got Extras?
My tickets for the Charlottesville show are sold. Moderators, you can close out or lock this thread. Thanks. -
Damn. I actually was kinda looking forward to this. Kept checking their website for news. Thanks for letting us know.

I'm also waiting for my tickets to Charlottesville from Front Gate. I called them today and they told me the tickets were mailed Friday via UPS, but they were unable to provide a tracking number. I really don't get why this takes so long, but I guess I just have to chill and wait it out. the tickets I got directly form the venue arrived about 10 days ago.

Bump. Right orchestra, seats H10 and H12. $83.50 for the pair. I'm going to go ahead and list these on Craigslist if they don't sell here, but I would really prefer to sell them to a VCer. . . -
Saw them at the Norva last night in Norfolk, VA. I went in with few expectations but I have to say, it was a great show! They played for 3 hours and the crowd was really into it. Some nice extended jams--that is a very tight band! Here's the setlist, from Crowesbase: - acoustic set - SOUL SINGING COLD BOY SMILE GOOD FRIDAY SISTER LUCK WELCOME TO THE GOODTIMES APPALOOSA HOW MUCH FOR YOUR WINGS -> BRING ON BRING ON THORN IN MY PRIDE POLLY REMEDY - electric set - ANOTHER ROADSIDE TRAGEDY -> WISER TIME SHARE THE RIDE ->

Totally agree. This is my favorite Townes by far--it's so intimate and real, and he was apparently in a pretty good place when he recorded this. Lots of funny banter. There's also a 2-disc greatest hits called Legend that's a good value, and I really like Roadsongs as well. If you find yourself getting into Townes (who could not?) I highly recommend a tribute album Called Poet--A Tribute to Townes Van Zandt. Some wonderful interpretations of his songs, by a real who's who of artists he influenced. I love almost every recording on this one, but I'm particularly partial to John Prine covering

I still have one spare pair of tickets for the Charlottesville show. $83.50 for the pair. They are right orchestra, seats H10 and H12. $83.50 for the pair, which is face value + fees. I can priority mail them to you at cost, or if you want to pick up night of show I can do that as well. I do have a paypal account. PM me or email me at dkyrus@gmail.com. -
Look out! Here I come again, and I'm bringing my friends!
-
Well, that's reassuring, but I want those fuckin' tickets in my fuckin' hands NOW! I think I'll call and badger them tomorrow. . . .

Has anyone who purchased through the Front Gate pre-sale for Charlottesville gotten their tickets yet? I'm starting to get nervous. The ones I bought directly from the Paramount have arrived, but nothing from Front Gate yet. I just sent an inquiry through their website but was curious whether anyone else has gotten theirs.

I wondered the same thing! Gezundheit, Mr Tweedy!

He does have a book of poetry: Adult Head, and you can get it for about $10 here . It's interesting. Not as good as the lyrics + music, in my opinion, but there are lots of fragments of beauty and insight, and poems that later became songs, etc. For the price I think it's a must have for anyone who admires Jeff.

Something has blessed Jeff Tweedy. Maybe it's his own strength of character, his talent, his loyalty to ideals and family, his belief in his gifts and the value they bestow on the world. Maybe it's having the wisdom to know that you've got to keep your inner child alive. He is a man of many blessings, which he has nurtured and developed, and many of the products of his blessings are gifts to us all. [insert your own snarky comment here. "Yeah, right, except for (least favorite song/album/band change/his bald spot!)]

But be prepared for non-Wilco prices, probably around $100 face value. It will be worth it.I've seen him tons of times and he never gives less than his all. One of the crazier things I ever did was pay some ticket broker service $500 for one floor ticket to the big E Street reunion tour in DC--i think around 2002. I just HAD to be there. (This was back in the days when I thought I had some money. Ha!)

Heavy Metal Drummer in the Old Dominion University bookstore today. It was a moment of pure serendipity, and here's why. . . . I was with an old friend who is a very recent convert to Wilco fandom. I've been working on her for a while now, spoon-feeding her CDs and DVDs one at a time. (We've been friends since we were 10 and we were both obsessive John Lennon fans--we kept the most amazing scrapbooks, and John was "our" Beatle.) She's actually coming to the Tweedy show in Charlottesville with me, something that is WAY out of character for her these days. So, anyway, our lives have taken
