Yeah it's definitely subjective, but as I said, I lean towards UT, but OU (and NOT just based on TT) just looks a LOT better than they did when they played in Dallas whereas UT looks about the same.
-
Gotta admit, that sounds reasonable to me. FWIW, though (and my brother lives in Austin and is a huge UT fan, so I'm biased towards the Horns), I do think this that RIGHT NOW, the Sooners are playing better football. I think if that game was played next weekend (how much better would that Big !2 Championship be!?!), the Sooners would roll.

How do they do it?
-
Yeah that's definitely not true in my opinion. But if you like early Phish, this is worth having. I think '89 is a bit early for them, but it's a good show. I think they really started to come into their own the following year and really broke out in '91. My favorite era is '91-'94, but if you know what to expect (similar to the Colorado '88 set), it's very enjoyable.

Well to be fair, it isn't eh BCS's fault that the Big 12 uses them as the tie-breaker. It's the Big 12 that is ignoring the head-to-head match-up in determining its South Division champ.

So OU and UT split the human polls so OU must've taken a pretty significant lead in the computers. FWIW the AP poll has UT ahead of OU. 1. Alabama (62) 12-0 1,620 2. Florida (3) 11-1 1,516 3. Texas 11-1 1,488 4. Oklahoma 11-1 1,480 5. USC 10-1 1,355

Is every freakin' idiot in the NFL represented by Drew "next question!" Rosenhaus!?!

When I was living in Created Butte in the early '90s, SCI (when they WERE an acoustic band) used to come to play the Forest Queen every (well maybe not EVERY) Wednesday night. That was a lot of fun and I really dug those guys. I wasn't such a fan when they went more electric and Phish-y. np: Faust Arp by Radiohead over and over as I try to figure it out on my gee-tar.

You and I can never hang.

I'm listening to all my Flaming Lips rarities, b-sides and EPs today.

Plus the idea that anyone can KNOW what a guy who died nearly 28 years ago would want is silly.

Agree. Disagree. See my above example about how with FL and AL already clinched their SEC Division. In a playoff system that featured the Conference Champions, they would be stupid not to sit starters for most of their game this week in preparation for the SEC Championship Game. And those games are huge rivalry games that are a big part of what makes NCAA football special.

Well I think a lot of people haven't thought it through to be honest with you. Not you necessarily, but you still haven't told me how you would pick the 8 teams. I have yet to hear a system for picking the 8 teams that is any more fair or less arbitrary than the BCS and doesn't make sacrifices to the meaningfulness of the regular season. And, as I said, I don't necessarily agree that more teams=less "arbitrariness" (see my George Mason example above).Plus I like the debates the BCS sparks.

Thanks! Listening now... very nice. Look for my "Secular War on Christmas (dedicated to Papa Bear O'Reilly)" mix any day now.

But that's the point. Everyone can't play each other, so SOME assessment needs to be made as to who the best teams are. Give me eight teams right now that based on nothing but head-to-head match-ups would qualify for your playoff. It can't be done, so the BCS is at least an effort to make the season itself a playoff while recognizing that everyone can't play each other and everyone's schedule isn't equal.
-
Isn't a playoff kind of arbitrary as well? Sure it determines who was better on THAT DAY, but is the entirety of the season not important? I am NY Giants fan, but if they played a 7 game series against the Pats last season, I bet they would've been beaten in 5 or 6 games. Was George Mason's basketball team a better team than UCONN in the '05-'06 season? Any team could PERHAPS beat any other on any given day and every team can't play each other, so where do you draw the line? Eight team playoff? So who are the eight teams? Conference champions? If that were the case this year, wouldn't Florida

I saw them live recently for the first time and their lead singer looked like he was having less fun on stage than Doug Martsch.

This is what I'm trying now. I found this Wiki page that is helpful. Thanks all!

Yeah I really like DP5 from December '79.

I just don't think that is likely most of the time. Let's compare hoops. I, personally, think hoops is much more likely to provide Cinderella stories because one player getting hot in one game can determine an outcome. Even still, the Cinderella stories happen in Sweet 16 and earlier in almost every case (except George Mason). If you have a 10 team playoff, that's not really even a Cinderella. What would the equivalent be in hoops? Syracuse beating Kansas? I mean that was cool, but sacrifice the weight of the entire regular season cool? Not to me! No, what makes the hoops tournament cool is th

Well my point is that 2/3 of the schools are essentially minor league teams. When they've been given the shot, they fail (99.9% of the time). BTW, I would say that 0.01% is Boise State over OK and there's still no way, IMO, they deserved to be in the BCS Championship. They are undefeated because they play weak competition. The Atlantic 10 and the Big East were essentially disqualified before the season too. Right now you've got in the BCS: 1 Alabama 2 Texas 3 Oklahoma 4 Florida 5 USC .7974 6 Utah .7858 7 Texas Tech 8 Penn State Does anyone really think Utah would beat ANY of those
-
Yeah but 99.9% of the players and coaches of non-BCS conferences would have gone to a BCS school had they the option. May suck for them, but their playoffs were during recruitment season while still in HS. Should we include every Divsion II school that goes undefeated as well? You gotta draw a line somewhere. If we had an 8 team playoff, how many years do you think a non-BCS conference team makes it in the top 8? If we're honest with ourselves, the answer is rarely to never. Hawaii got a BCS Bowl game and showed why they aren't in a BCS conference.

Does anyone have a good recommendation for an online photo album? I upload a lot of pics to Kodak (formerly Ofoto) and they don't have limits on storage, but they don't save images at full quality. I've tried Picasa and some others that will upload at full resolution, but you have to pay to get any reasonable amount of storage. I may be SOL for what i want in the free realm, but I thought I'd see if anyone knew anything.

No we can't. Seriously though, I wouldn't be too disappointed by a playoff, but watch as ratings for the regular season plummet if it happens.
